advice on stairgates needed

Sorry if this is the wrong section but not sure if products gets much traffic and i could do with some advice.

Our house is 1970s and has the original stairs. They are in the living room and one side has a bannister and the other side a wall. The difference to most stairs is that they are not flush to the wall, there is a small gap and then they have wooden sides that are about 3 inches from the step upwards. A bit like if you leaned a ladder up near to the wall. the top stairgate we can put across a wall just round the corner of the stairs so that will do the job. Bottom stairgate is causing a bit of a headache. The bannister side is ok but the other side the bottom of the stairgate will need to go against the wooden side of the stairs and the top of the stair gate will need to go about 2 inches further out to fasten to the wall.

Does anyone know of any stairgates where its possible for the top and bottom fastening to be different lengths. All the ones we've seen so far so you can get an extender but it is the full height of the stairgate.

Hope this makes sense, kind of difficult to describe.

The stairgates we have are pressure fit ones and the pressure screws on the side screw out to different lengths if you need them to.

Our house was build in the 1930s and the door ways are not straight so the top pressure screw is screwed out about 1 cm further than its bottom counterpart iyswim.

We have an extended gate on the top of our stairs that is similarly set up and the walls at the top of the stairs are little bit wonky too.

We have Lindam Easy Fit plus gates with a 7cm extender fitted to the upstairs stairgate.

Got them from Kiddicare. HTH.

cheers but the difference we need in lengths is about 4 inches, can you make them that different?

If you get the kiddiguard one then you can get spacers (or just make one) to balance out the difference. It rolls out of the way too.
