toddler feet turn inwards

Have noticed recently my nearly 3yr old DS's feet turn in when he walks/ runs

Its mainly his right foot but both have a tendancy to fall in rather than go straight.

Its not massively noticeable and his pre school teachers have never said anything to me about it but when I asked them to look out for it they agreed he does do it and suggested I go to the Drs

Happy to do so, I just wondered if anyone else has come across the same and what do they usually do?? Does it tend to sort itself out? Is it quite common?

The awful thing is my mum made a huge fuss about this exact issue when DS was 12m/18m old and was learning walking and I poo poo'd it as not serious, a result of learning to walk and that he'd grow out of it which tbh he did(I did begrudgingly speak to HV and Dr at the time) but it seems to have got a bit more pronounced again in the last few months hence me speaking to pre-school lady for 'independent' opinion.

Oh well, I told you so is ringing in my ears!!

I understand that when they are very young this is very normal but by 3 you'd expect it to have resolved itself. I'd take your ds to the Dr to get it checked (and also to a podiatrist) as it may be treatable at this age but not when he is older (if there is a problem which there may not be).

DS2 had this (it runs in our family). I went to the GP and he got checked out by a specialist at the hospital. She examined him and said that he would grow out of it by the age of 6ish and he has.

Worth getting it checked out though.

DD's did this when she was little. Now she's older, she has very flat feet, so that may be something to watch for once his feet have lost the baby chubbiness.

My DD had this, she was seen by a Dr at the hospital and he said she would probably grow out of it by age 5. She did :)

thanks girls, sounds quite reassuring that it can be quite common.

Feel a bit calmer.

Did you have to do anything? To help them straighten out? Any advice about which shoes to wear for example? I always buy clarks because in the back of my mind I have always had my mums voice! Or did they say it would just happen naturally?

Have booked an appt for Feb so that should get the ball rolling
