I have applied to do a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood in September. I am currently doing a Foundation Degree in Professional Practice in the Early Years and and will be graduating in July. I have not had a reply to my application yet.
What have you applied for and have you had any offers yet?

not applied yet, my deadline isn't until march (art school). am crapping myself about the application tbh, i have loads of work to do on my portfolio (which i should obviously be getting on with now rather than mumsnetting...)

congratulations pure. did you apply to just the one uni? i guess you're well into the swing of balancing uni and home by now, are you/will you be full time?

JackiePaper · 27/01/2011 20:30

I've applied to do midwifery, got 4 interviews and am keeping everything crossed i get an offer from one of them, it's ridiculously competitive to get in!
congrats on your place purepurple :)

purepurple · 27/01/2011 20:37

prettymaryk yes, I applied to just one uni, the one tht I currently attend for my foundastion degree. I do it part time and it will have taken my 3 years by the time I graduate in July, as I am part time and work 4o hours a week.
When I start the BA, I will be full time, although it's just one day at uni. The rest of the week will be at work. I am really looking forward to it, I am such a geek Grin
jackiepaper midwifery sounds like hard work but must be very worthwhile, good luck with your interviews

i'm always amazed at how many commitments people manage to juggle on here - how does it work out that you're full time at uni if you're working 4 days?

purepurple · 29/01/2011 07:43

The course is one day a week from 12 till 9.30, so is pretty intensive. I am part time at the moment as my course is from 5 till 9.30. I go straight from work, so it is a very long day as i have to do the early shift that day (start at 8) so I can leave early. I then have to have a short dinner on one day a week to make up the 30 mins I owe work.
Studying is usually done at the weekend and I always have a textbook to read during my dinner break during the week.
That doesn't leave much time for anything else.My house could do with a bloody good clean, but I am not going to make myself ill worrying about the state of my house.
It is not easy at times, but I keep plodding on, and have fantastic support from DH and my LO are older (21 and 14) and can look after themselves if they need to. I was pleased to be awarded a trophy for student of the year last year. I am glad that someone appreciates the effort I put in.

purepurple - that is inspiring.

I cant wait to get back into it. I was at uni last year doing a sort of prep for the BA History and deferred this year when I got pregnant (all part of the crazy master plan) but that place is part time so am hoping to get a full time place although it is all evenings (3 per week) plus mountains and mountains of reading. I feel well prepared though and am mega organised kind of person (was a PA in a past life) so feel ready.

MW I hae so much respect for people doing this, not only because it looks bloody hard but also all the emotional stuff that goes along with it.

purepurple · 29/01/2011 10:14

thank you mixedmamameansbusiness, huimbled to have inspired someone Grin
I love being a student. If I win yhe lottery I am going to be a student for the rest of my life, DH can send me postcards from his trip round the world on his motorbike.
I can't imagine being a student with a baby though, that must be such hard work.

i just hope organstion and determination actually is enough.

purepurple · 29/01/2011 19:53

eekkk indeed Grin Though you will have more to prove than others on your course, if it's only to yourself that you can do it.
