my dd1 was in hospital with this last week

she was vomiting i would say every 15 mins (shes 3 btw) and after a few hours of her refusing to drink anything whatsoever, everytime she wretched she would pass out (she would bring up green bile)

we called nhs 24 who immediately told us to go to hospital (because she was passing out) and we did and she was very dehydrated

she had very low bp and a fast pulse (because she was dehydrated) and she had a drip for 12 hrs

she also had diahorrea, a sample was sent (i dont know the name of the bug) but she has gastro enteritis (which i suppose is a broad name for any type of tummy bug)

i just wanted to tell you this so you can look for the signs, but it sounds like your dd is taking water and thats brilliant

hope she is better soon

she was fine after the drip (dr said she would probably have been ok if she had drunk water at home)

the diahorrea didnt appear til about 12 hrs after the vomiting (dont mean to worry you btw)

we were in an isolation room and it was bloody awful!

dh (of course) caught the bug and didnt recover for 2 days (MEN!)

dabihp · 07/10/2005 16:11

sigh, yes. last time she had vom/diah about 2 yr ago, we both got it really bad, but i still had to get up to make bottles etc....

Don't let her eat - fluids much more important.

dabihp · 08/10/2005 06:38

no, she hasnt even asked for food, she cant even kleep the water down. this started 18hrs ago.... its so horrible she is screaming when she vomits, why wont they let me take her to hospital? cant imaging why with all the advances of modern day they cant cure stomach bugs!

did go to Docs on Wed, said it was probably a virus, but keep an eye also took urine sample incase! But he does seem much better today. sat up instead of lying down for a start!

dabihp

how are things today? maybe you should go to the hospital if she is no better

do you have a walk in gp service like we do up here?

dabihp · 08/10/2005 12:43

didnt go to hospital, as she managed to keep water down since 7 and has weed , is asleep now, hoping she doesnt vomit upon waking.....

OP posts:
dabihp · 08/10/2005 20:24

managed to sip water and not vomit all day, then had bath and vomited up water. has been sleeping most of the day... not sure how much sleepiness is normal?

Also no Diahorea?

any suggestions? normally doesnt gastrenteritis cause it to come out both ends?

dinny · 08/10/2005 20:28

has she got a high temperature, dabihp?

I'd be concerned as she's being sick and is drowsy.

dabihp · 08/10/2005 20:32

she is warm, has got 'hot' on and off, but not really feverish...

adn she has had wet nappies, so at elast that means she isnt dehydrated, i think...

Our monkey (12 mnts) has come down with a tummy bug too. Think it's gastroenteritus, he started off vomiting last night, couldn't keep anything down and they had a bout of diahorrea but just the one this afternoon, it's been sickness mostly. He's fine inbetween bouts though, laughing and back to normal until his tummy begins to ache again. We did take him to a&e but it was obvious it was just a tummy bug so we didn't wait. He's in bed now, been on dry toast and water all day, nothing acidic and no milk, etc. How's your DD now, Dabihp?

dabihp · 08/10/2005 20:57

she hasnt eaten for 2 days, looks so pale and ill and scrawny....

she's sleepy but she is ill and hasnt slept much last few nights

auntymandy · 09/10/2005 17:11

we are going through ice pops like mad..keeps them cool and gets fluid in slowly. DS had to go to out of hours gp and now on antibiotics.
Sleeping now!
