7 months: too old for dream feed?

Just wanted to know what other parents are doing...
My DS has only recently dropped his middle-of-the-night feed and is sleeping from 11pm to 7am. I still give him a dream feed at 11 (this is when he makes up for all the milk he hasn't drunk during the day -- he just loves solid food too much!). Does anyone have any tips on how to drop this feed gradually? I've heard of the Ferber method, but don't know much about it...

I really hope not - my 11mo DD is still having a dream feed!!!!! Personally I am carrying on for the moment as this sleeping through (sometimes) lark is quite new to us and I don't want to jeopardise it! I reckon whatever works for you. I am happier giving a dream feed and not having to get up in the night. My plan is to reduce it gradually by 1oz a week when I do decide to wean her off (I know she probably doesn't actually need it now!).

The Ferber method (controlled crying) is designed to get babies to self-settle - it's intended for babies who wake at the end of every sleep cycle (usually every 1.5-2 hours) needing help to get back off again.

It doesn't sound like it would be of any help to you as your DS can clearly settle himself between sleep cycles.

Dunno about dropping the dreamfeed myself though, as I've never really done one, although my 13 m.o. has a feed when I go to bed (we co-sleep and me going to bed usually wakes him up).

Definitely don't have the guts for controlled crying, so will probably do what you do, EJOG, and carry on! You're right, what works is prob what's best for now

If you arent into CC, every 5 days knock off 1 more ounce, and water it down, so that it will have a knock on effect of baby eating/drinking more in the day and not really enjoying watered down milk so much, as to bother waking for it. By now it is more habit than needing night time nourishment.

I just took the plunge and dropped it one night at about the same age and my DD slept through and we never looked back.......but I think we used a dummy with her to settle her back to sleep if she woke in the middle of the night.
