I rarely ever get to go to the toilet by myself. Hmm
Even if I make it to the bathroom and get the door locked ds1 will stand outside shouting to come inand talk to me, or dd decides that while I am sitting on the toilet I can also be in another room in the house doing something for her.

My favourite has to be standing in the living room talking to dd, when she had finished I said I was just poping to the toilet, she got up and followed me and DS1 ran to beat me there so they could chat to me while I was there.

BeeandSon · 18/01/2011 16:03

I have to say very firmly with a serious face
" Look close the door I am having a smelly number 2"
ds will leave but... I can bet on it as I resurfice he will say '' you couldnt have your poo mummy could you? I didn't hear any ploof"

The3Bears · 18/01/2011 16:13

I constantly have a 3 yr old racing me to the bathroom whenever i need to go :)

dune74 · 18/01/2011 16:30

So its not just me then!
Yes i do have 4, quite frequently the younger 2 having a conversation/arguing and want me to hear it!

Hate to be asked have you done a poo yetAngry

This is the type of stuff mothers should be told so they know what to expect.

Heaven knows I try not to Dune, but I've discovered it can only be achieved if I am where my DC's are not. Grin

Thankfully I am used to it now.

chibi · 18/01/2011 16:35

i am just now reclaiming it, it is glorious locking the door

dd is 3 1/2, ds 18 months

she is eminently sensible and will tell me if he is doing anything dangerous

loo is on the ground floor though, i might feel differently if i was on a different floor

also i would bring ds in if it were just me + him

clux73 · 18/01/2011 16:40

I can guarantee that if I run myself a nice hot bath at the weekend within 2 minutes of getting in one of my DD's will come into the bathroom to do a poo

tassisssss · 18/01/2011 16:43

actually I was reflecting the other day that I am pretty much now able to go to the loo alone.

not take a shower, but we'll build up to that.

mine are 7, 4 and 2 so it feels like it's been a long time!

MadreInglese · 18/01/2011 16:45

yes, and if not a child it's one of the cats!

cookieraymond · 18/01/2011 19:34

yes here too. Usually both my DS1 2.10m and DS2 1.1yr join me. I am hoping for a solo event by my youngest reaching 2yrs

Huffymuffy · 18/01/2011 19:52

Sometimes dog here too. Tbh it's one of the perks of going to work. Alone time in the loo!

TheFowlAndThePussycat · 18/01/2011 20:14

Yes, and it makes me want to weep. Dh & I had a huge row when it turned out that he had been upstairs listening to & giggling at me in the downstairs loo plaintively crying 'please leave mummy alone darling, she's trying to do a poo!' Now he bloody well knows to remove them from the environs if I'm availing myself of the facilities Grin!

3peasinapod · 18/01/2011 21:38

I have not been alone in the loo since jan 2006. I always have 1 of 3 if not all 3 in with me and the dog. Great company!!! (Not) we have no lock on our loo door, as dd2 is a messer and would lock herself in daily if we had..

RachelHRD · 18/01/2011 21:44

Yes I usually have a 3 year old with a running commentary about what I am doing Confused. Oh and his best trick is to turn the light off whilst I'm mid flow arrgghh!!

QueenOfFlamingEverything · 18/01/2011 21:46

Nope.

I would not stand for it and tbh I do not get why anyone allows it.

Children have never been allowed to trail into the toilet after me. They can bloody have some manners and wait like a normal person, if its really urgent they can shout through the door.

NickNacks · 18/01/2011 22:14

I have never allowed it either. Although I can guarantee that the second my cheeks touch the seat, one of them will call me.

I now have a saying... 'Unless your brother is on fire, it can wait until i'm done' and then i refuse to answer any more.

Harsh? Maybe but i think 30-60 secs isn't much too ask!

At home sometimes, when out NEVER, so all the poo/wee/bum related questions get broadcast to a public audience!!

I am amazed at this woman at DDs swimming (children 3yrs) - she can leave her DS on the bench to sit nicely, while she goes into a cubicle and locks the door to get dressed!

I have to get dressed while simultaneously pinning DD to the bench to make sure she doesn't run away/do damage etc. I couldn't even leave her outside the door while I went for a wee in a public place, never mind a full change of clothing!

Lovethesea · 19/01/2011 21:59

My 2 year old brings me books to read to her the moment I sit down ...

baskingseals · 19/01/2011 22:05

mine offers to wipe my bottom

Montifer · 19/01/2011 22:34

I enjoy rapid fire questions whilst abluting

"Where are you Mummy? What's that smell? Are you doing a poo? Where does it come from? Can I see it? Can I flush for you Mummy?" repeated in a non stop cycle.

Unfortunately I don't seem to be a good enough role model for him to choose to use the toilet instead of nappies.

Beamur · 19/01/2011 22:37

So true. I become a magnet for DD as soon as I go to the toilet - neither of ours have locking doors either, so I can't keep her out. I think she knows I can't get away...
