Naps

Hi there, I'd like to know your opinion on this:

I put my DD on one nap a day when she was around 1 because I thought was was easier to manage because with two naps sometimes she wasn't having the late afternoon one and I couldn't work around it. So one nap worked worders at the start and seh slep 1 to 2 hours no problem.

But now she sleeps better at night so she wakes up well rested with the inevitable noises DP makes at 7am. I know isnot late at all, but she doesen't last until 12 (lunch time) and 1pm nap without being cranky and putting a fight for lunch.

I am thinking, should I go back to two naps, everyone wakes up at 7, put her for her morning nap at 11 (thats when she gets sleepy) the feed her whenever she wakes up and leave the afternoon nap up to her??

Will it be upsetting to change the routine again? she is 15 m/o by the way.

Thanks in advance for your ideas.

When my ds1 was 15months he was sleepin 7-7 at night but still needed 20minute nap at 9.30am to get him through until his lunchtime nap at 12.45ish.

He was about 18months before he started not needing his morning nap.

Put her down and see, she'll soon let you know if she doesn't/does want it. If she doesn't try having a period of half hour/45minuted or so at about 10ish where she can just relax, read some books or something to try and keep her un-cranky until lunch time.

Oh and does she have a morning snack and drink?

I know my ds1 gets very cranky when he's hungry so about 10.30 he'll have some fruit and water which gives him a little energy boost.

I don't think it's a stupid question :)

My DS is 13 months and he has one long nap in the morning and eats his lunch when he wakes up from it. So he gets up around 7-730am then falls asleep 2-3 hrs later and sleeps for 1.5-3hrs.

He does struggle in the afternoons but offering a snack seems to perk him up. Sometimes he'll kip in the car if we go out late afternoon.

Could your dd do the same? Maybe a slightly later lunch? Or you could try having quiet story time in the afternoon when she's tired?

Thank you for all the replies. Well, I tried to put her for her nap at around 11 after a snack and give her lunch later and it worked a couple of times, but not always.

She is teething and very clingy so not sure if its a good time to try to set a new routine, if I try to put her for her nap in her cot she will scream the house down with such a passion that I thought the neighbours where going to call the social services! I put her in her buggy a couple of times, and now she will only sleep on it if I go and walk round the house. I know it sounds extreme but I did that today, came back and she's been sleep for 3 hours! In fact I need to wake her up!

So, when the teething stops, if it ever does which I am not too sure I might be able to set some sort of nap routine at the moment everything is pear shaped and I just have to cope as I can whith all the screaming and food throwing at lunch time :(
