Hi there,
My 3 month old ds is getting too big for his moses. So we are thinking of using a travel cot in our room until 6 months then move him into his own room which has a cot bed.

Is this safe? We cant fit the cot bed in our room.

Would he be better of just going into the cot now? Travel cots aren't that comfy IME, try him in the cot bed for daytime naps and see if je will settle in there. It may save you time trying to get him used to one cot for a few weeks then getting him used to another one only a few weeks later.

We can't afford a cot for our 17week old at the moment and he had grown out of his Moses basket too.

We do usually co-sleep but occasionally he fusses and prefers his own space.

We have a travel cot from ds1 so I just bought a travel cot mattress and he sleeps in there now.

I don't see why it would be dangerous. The mattress is the same as a cot one just travel cot size.

We had the same problem and used a graco travel cot with the large bassinet until he could roll over, and then once he was 3 or 4mo used a travel cot sized mattress in the bottom to make it more comfy. He was very happy in it until 7mo.

IMO it would be better to have him in your room if possible, and there's nothing wrong with a travel cot as long as you follow the usual SIDS guidelines etc. It might be better to use a sleeping bag than a blanket though, as it would be easier for him to pull a blanket over his head (hard to tuck in the mattress of a travel cot)

yes we want him in our room i dont think till at least 6 months wouldnt want him in another room at the moment.

Have got a 2.5 tog sleeping bag and will just put a light blanket over the top just near his feet.

You can buy proper mattresses to go in travel cots so I'd do that. PIL have just bought one for DD's travel cot at their house as I wouldn't let DD sleep in it because the supplied mattress was as thin as paper.
