stickchildrenthree

yes i def get caught up in the parts that i shouldnt..on bad/tired days it is usually the mess! dispite contantly telling myself to not worry about it, it doesnt matter, none care etc etc!

I have always been addiment that i will homecook all the baby/childrens food...which i have stuck too..but its gotten harder i have to have big cook offs and millions of pots in my freezer!

But you are right in some ways you relax/worry less than with your first...but my patience seems to have gone down a bit since dc3 arrived...i do feel bad about that esp as dd1 is so calm im sure its because i was the most patient person ever a couple of yrs ago...think im ok most of the time bar pmt wk..my periods have just returned Sad

But i LOVE LOVE LOVE My 3gorgeous children and wouldnt change them for the world...would be quite happy to hire a cleaner thou Wink

My 3 DS's are 11, 8 and 2, and again, for us the hardest is not necessarily being able to do an activity/outing/occasion to suit all ages. Older two are fab and so inclusive with DS3, but cinema trips, trips to the toddler club etc are quite tricky.
Another hard thing is splitting myself between the three of them. Especially feel as though I don't give enough individual time or attention to the older two.

Having said this, having 3 is fab, wouldn't swap it, and wouldn't go up to 4!!!

I have dd11 ds10 dd15 months

  1. Never having any time to myself
  2. The couple of hours after school trying to supervise homework, cook dinner, entertaining the baby
  3. Trying to make one meal that all 3 of them will happily eat
MinnieMummy · 08/01/2011 23:04

Normal, so good to hear it's not just me - yes some days I just can't face getting them in the car so stay at home but ironically they are all calm in the car and often fall asleep so it should be worth the battle bother.

I can see people in the future not inviting us round as much as once DD2 is a toddler we really will be more than a houseful.

DD1 is at the 'Why? Why? Whhhhhyyyyyyyyy?' stage at the mo which can be very rather annoying trying. Although in no way specific to having three!

Normal2feelthisway · 08/01/2011 23:09

Agree dont think its down to having three..but i have to admitt i found 1-2 a breeze but 2-3...i felt the increase.

I do remember funnily my only real concern when preg with dc3 was the getting the shoes coats/suncream on and getting into the car. I find it i have to leave at say 9am, i aim to be start shoes etc at 830...then im actually in the car for 9!!! Sometimes even with the dirty nappy thats thrown in just as you think your all ready to go!

We live in a village which we love and its has a fab school etc..but i often think if i lived in town it would be easier and quicker to walk everywhere than bother getting in the car.

OK mine are 11, 4 and 2.

The worst bits are

1)getting out, especially in this cold weather.
2)everybody asking me for something as soon as I sit down.
3)if the two littlest ones fight.

The best bits are

1)seeing them interact with each other.
2)lots of cuddles and kisses, for me and each other.
3)seeing their similarities and differences as they grow up. dd2 is very similar to dd1 with her sweet little imagination, but she has this appalling drone of a singing voice, which neither of the other two do, they sing normally. Middle child comedian anyone?

Clary · 08/01/2011 23:11

11, 9, 7

1 Fitting in all their activities in the evening

2 Finding time for one-on-one with each of them esp to do DS1's homework

3 Pains au chocolat are sold in packs of four - so either I go without or I have to buy two packs

That last one is slightly flippant. More seriously, living with them all in a 3-bed house; having to find SC holiday acomm which sleeps 5 - it usually sleeps 6 and thus costs a lot more than if you only have 2 DC.

(Haha have just read thread and see froggie is saying somethign similar to my choc croissant moan! Grin BTW ring doughnuts in Sainsbury's come in 5s! I didn't know you were having DC5!!)

ednurse · 08/01/2011 23:13

Not a mother but I am one of three! Me 22, my DB 19 and DS 16 (3 years between each of us)

  1. Never playing nicely as kids, it would always be two ganging up against the other, we didnt fight more...bickered.

  2. holidays and days out, most packages are designed at the 2.2 families, we'd need extra rooms, extra tickets on top of family deals etc.

  3. I can't think of another, I love there being three of us. It means I have another sibling to wind up talk to when I get bored with the other

MoldyWarp · 08/01/2011 23:17

i have two sets of three - the younger end of the family
ds7
ds4
ds2

hardest thing ummmmmmmmmm

1.maybe that i have not got the inclination / energy /money to do a load of after school stuff and therefore they cannot swim

2.not being great at remembering all the parents evenings etc because all 6 of mine are at different schools

  1. the loo needs cleaning very very often
Plonker · 08/01/2011 23:55

My 3 are

Dd1 - almost 11
Dd2 - 7
Dd3 - 3

The 3 hardest parts for me are:

1 - none of them seem to get enought time just for them. I'm constantly split 3 ways and am still desperately trying to find a way for them all to have 'quality time' (I hate that phrase - although to be fair that's probably because I'm so shit at giving it!)

2 - dragging dd3 round from pillar to post whilst I drop the older two off where they need to be on that particular day

3 - making ends meet Sad

Memoo · 09/01/2011 05:29

Plonker we find your no3 hard too, it's rubbish isn't it Sad

cjdamoo · 09/01/2011 06:27

  1. the 7 and 12 year old lately do nothing but fight
  1. school run. I loath it with a passion
  1. Early days og pg no5. mean I am knackered permantly
WinkyWinkola · 09/01/2011 06:52

Ds1 5
Dd 3
Ds2 14 months

One of them always wakes up early and gets the other two up.

Ds1 always making ds2 cry with roughness.

I'll still go for 4 though.

baskingseals · 09/01/2011 08:02

dd 8
ds1 3
ds2 16 months

prioritising individual needs at one moment -dd wants me to hear her latest singing performance, ds1 wants to find Buzzy and ds2 has done a smelly poo - what do I do first? Inevitably dd ends up waiting and then I feel guilty

the sheer physcial effort it requires to dress feed and maintain them throughout the day EVERY day

the lack of control I feel over the house and simple things like going to the post office feel like climbing Everest with no oxygen or sherpas

could do with a few sherpas actually

CommanderDrool · 09/01/2011 08:27

I have DD1 (6) DD2 (4) and DD3(18 months]

  1. Meeting everybody's needs. So if DD1 has an after school activity the other two are dragged along like baggage. dD3 is always in buggy, to/ from school/nursery.
  1. Washing. Need I say more.
  1. Housework
  1. Time for individual kids vs time fir myself.
WinkyWinkola · 09/01/2011 08:31

"Could do with a few sherpas actually."

Brilliant!

And yes, the taking of all children to each other's activities is a bit of a nightmare. Not sure when that will end actually or they'll just all end up doing the same activities whether boy or girl!

Plonker · 09/01/2011 09:10

Memoo yes Sad

When I win the lottery, I'll share it with you Grin

chocolatepuff · 09/01/2011 10:29

this thread and others have got me thinking. we all feel that we cant do enough housework, guilty that our homes are tips and the washing basket is always overflowing.
Why is it not the mum rule to be allowed to have a messy house, when i go to some of my mum friends houses they are spotless! (am sure they clean just before we arrive) but we shouldnt buy into it. if we saw each others mucky houses we would all relax about our own!

anyway sorry ramble over - my sole dd is 17mo.

1 - the guilt,not playing/stimulating/cooking enough..

2 - the responsibility

3 - the lack of sleep

but, it truely is the most wonderful relationship isnt it!

becaroo · 09/01/2011 10:35

I have 3 ds aged 7 and 2.

  1. Not getting much sleep for nearly 8 years is rather wearing. ds1 was getting better then ds2 came along!!
  1. Not cooking from scrtach as much as I would like to....lots of fish fingers and oven chips for ds1 Sad
  1. Not ever doing anything for me. Ever. My child free time is spent grocery shopping, baking/cooking things to put in the freezer, cleaning, washing and ironing.

I love them both but its bloody hard work!

becaroo · 09/01/2011 10:36

hahahahaaha

Just realised I only have 2 dc and the op asked and out having 3.....

sorry, didnt get much sleep again last night Sad

Haribojoe · 09/01/2011 15:48

I have three.

DS1 5yrs (6 in a few weeks)

DS2 3yrs

DS3 18 weeks today!

Don't really find 3 much more taxing than 2 but here goes.

Loading them in and out of the car, not difficult persay but a faff, so try to walk as much as possible.

Like other posters always feel I'm fighting a losing battle with the housework but quite frankly don't care anymore.

Have noticed this time how much more washing a baby generates but this has been helped by a new washing machine with 7kg drum and quick wash which only takes 30 minutes.

I love having 3 and definitely haven't ruled out number 4 Smile

lostinwales · 09/01/2011 16:01

DS1 - 10, DS2 - 8, DS3 - 35 nearly 4.

1 Socks
2 Socks
3 Socks
