Thought I wouldn't clog up the other thread with these...

My TV rules are quite simple.

1 No TV in the morning, EVER, unless -
it's the Olympics
it's the Ashes
it's a general election
it's the assassination of a politician
it's the wedding of the heir to the throne
there's been a terrorist incident
DS is ill
I'm ill
I'm getting dressed and need to stop ds pinching my socks
I'm feeling a bit bored

2 No more than 8 hours of TV a week, EVER, but see 1

3 No adverts, unless they're funny.

There, that's clear, surely.

No more than 8 hours a day.

My DS (now 4 and in school) had delayed speach and poor concentration at the age of 2.5 which I blamed on too many square-eyed hours. So I took quite drastic action and turned the box off - very firmly denying any viewing other than one video per day. This went on for months. His speach did improve slightly but not dramatically. Turned out to be more to do with Glue Ear! Now has grommets and the happy fella chats away while watching the Shiny Show - he's very competative!

Wow, how informative about tv watching. My d/d 27months loves Barney!!!! Iknow smiley american children perfect in everyway!!! She has to have it on as soon as she comes down in the morning 6.30am so sky plus helps!?!

Then my d/d of 4 yrs who has just started school sept she wants c/beebies etc.... have to say she is much slower getting dressed eating breakfast when tv is on so will try reward system as we are running late now novelty of school is starting to run out. We should sit at
dinner table rather than coffee table. will give it a try and see how it works.

Quick bit (20 mins) in the morning after breakfast/teeth/ dressed/ ready for pre-school.

Another hour [blush} at lunchtime while I do lunch/clean up etc.

More after any afternoon naps (about 30 mins).

20/30 mins of video before bed.

Only rule is it's got to be cbeebies or CITV - though I HATE adverts on kids tv.

Feeling very shabby and slightly soiled now.

cbeebies in am for 20mins while i get dressed, breakfasted etc
cbeebies in evening when i have a cup of tea, do dinner, run bath etc.

This is for ds2 - probably 2 hours a day mon-fri less at week ends
Probably too much and i feel very guilty

DS1 watches 30 mins a day - the simpsons
