Discoloured teeth

Hi all, I'm new to mumsnet so hello!

My daughter is 8 months old and has two little teeth which are part of the way through. They are very slightly discoloured. We clean them twice a day with baby toothpaste and it is clearing up a bit but I was wondering if anyone knew what could be causing it, as I would rather remove the cause rather than keep trying to remedy the problem.

I think I read somewhere that vitamin drops could be a cause. I'm giving my daughter abidec drops. When I mentioned this to the HV she simply ignored the question about her teeth and told me to keep giving her the drops. Any suggestions? Is anyone using any other types of vitamin drops they can recommend?

Thanks all

Might be worth having a chat with your dentist. I think there can be a funny link between discoloured milk teeth & baby having a high temperature when the teeth are still forming in the gum. The name of the condition escapes me at the moment.

Hi, I should have said that I feed my daughter on a pretty healthy diet, don't give her juice in her sippy cup and still BF her. I did mention it to the dentist who seemed a bit perplexed, hence my post.

JetLi- luckily my daughter has been fairly healthy so far suffering with jaundice when she was born and a couple of colds. I do keep an eye on her temp, largely as I have a digital ear thermometer and am a bit obsessed. Her temp seems fine, never really high touch wood!

FWIW, DD1 has this on her front teeth and the dentist said it was often caused by medication taken in pregnancy (didn't, so wasn't). He said it would not be possible to do anything while she was so small, ie before school age, but then it might be possible to clean them somewhat. All very vague, but as it is not causing discomfort I have let it go ....
