We bought a children's animation film from a seller on Amazon the other week.

It arrived yesterday and I gave it to the kids to open and watch while I did some housework.

We've seen it on TV and it's a PG so I thought it was safe to let them open it.

However today I found discarded on the floor a large flyer/fold out poster advertising their upcoming releases, including several horror films and on the other side was a poster of one of them, depicting a truly grim image of a young child covered in blood.

It was disgusting. I asked Ds1 where it came from and he told me it was folded up inside the film I gave them.

I have contacted amazon who promised to look into it, the seller (no reply yet) and the company who made our DVD - called Optimum Releasing.com. (also no response)

Googling it I saw that they had had a complaint upheld against them for this very poster last autumn, when it was displayed in the street and near to schools.

I've now issued a complaint to the ASA but wanted to warn any parents who might be affected so that you can prevent your children seeing these images.

Thanks for that info, that's quite shocking really. You'd think there would be a little common sense involved!

Thanfully with all DD's DVDs I take them from the box straight away anyway, as we store them in a cd wallet.

That's awful, thanks for the warning.

Thanks for bumping.

The seller has emailed to apologise and say they had no idea this was in their DVDs, but have forwarded my email to the suppliers.

I think they ought to stop selling this DVD for the time being but they didn't offer to do that...however Amazon said they would think about getting the DVDs checked or something, or putting a warning on the webpage where they are sold.
