We have six essays this term.... two (minumum- I'm too scared to check the others) by the second week in November.

This is gonna be a SLOG!

slinkstah · 04/10/2005 22:56

hello fellow students, i started back today and already have an essay for next week - this year is gonna be hard

weesaidie · 04/10/2005 22:59

I am doing okay, but haven't started any of my assigments yet. Tomorrow, I promise.

Have about 5/6 this term I think and about 3 due in at the beginning of Jan plus exams, fun Christmas for me I think!

PS. I had a mini assigment in freshers week, charming!

ScrewballMuppet · 05/10/2005 19:31

Oh dear! am 2 weeks in and have been thinking 'actually this is no probs' as we haven't been given any assignments as yet just being introduced to modules and trying to fathom out timetable. By the sound of you all this must be the calm before the storm. I'm going to make the most of it!!!!

PeachyClairPumpkinPie · 05/10/2005 19:45

Just realised I have a Psycho Psychology tutor. He came in and told my friend and I we didnt need to log the PC's on or take notes this week as it was a straight lecture, he had handouts (he normally does powerpoint). then when everyone else was in he turned and yelled at us for not having our PC's on and notebooks out! Lunatic. He also does this staring you in the eyes to intimidate you thing that my psychology lecturer last year used to do also, very strange.

I returned on Tues too! I was told from one of last year students that there would only be 15-20 in each seminar group! Imagine my horror to find 45+ at each lecture!! Seems to be a nice bunch of people and a real mix. I found it exciting and as I knew from a previous post most of the students were feeling nervous so that reassured me. Looking forward to this years challenges whatever they may be! just remind me when i post knck*d not made deadline hand in etc

scaryman · 06/10/2005 22:17

Charmed · 07/10/2005 08:00

lol ladyberry.

I was talking to this lovely Polish girl in my class who pronounced that our classmates were 'children!' She is 20. So nice though, she was disgusted with them as on the bus she heard them all talking the piss of this overweight girl in our class.

The good thing about uni now is that I feel about 10 times more confident than I did when I first attempted it. I'll happily chat to people but I really amn't bothered about making friends this time, it's quite liberating.

I have done the first draft of one of my assignments - very pleased - especially as like ladyberry I am hugely undisiplined!

Smurfgirl · 07/10/2005 21:38

Its ok. I like clincal skills but the lectures are a bit meh.

Sally we have been put into 2 groups so there are only 100 people for each lecture, makes it a bit less indimidating!

If you want to talk/stress about the course I am here I would imagine we are in similar positions x

jersey · 12/10/2005 13:53

HI can I join in, I'm studying part time one eve a week at uni, working full time, travelling 2 hours a day, have a DS aged 15 months and all the housework, etc..

Although I'm not doing the level you all seem to be doing (did a degree back in early 90s), certificate, but 6 assignments this year (2nd yr), got 2 already due in nov & dec. Slightly worried about getting them done as DH doesn't help much IYKWIM!!

Would be nice to have someone to chat to!

ScrewballMuppet · 12/10/2005 21:45

Theres over 350 students that are doing nursing, operational department practice, physiotherapy and radiography and we all have to go in the same lecture theatre for the core modules. If you don't get in early enough you have to make do with the steps.
We've all been split into 10 groups and the group I'm in has hardly done nothing just the boring stuff and then had study periods.

Don't qoute me but I want some work!

Thanks for the advice, will do. A few others who've not had the study periods, instead having a lecture have said they have to learn things liek the veins and arteries in the body and the bones so am going to get started on that until the work comes in.

Theres a girl on my course who i generally go for dinner and coffees with, with a few others ...well i just can't work her out she seems really nice but theres just something that I can't put my finger on IYKWIM.

The people on my course aren't as nice as the people who I was doing the access course with...maybe just lucky met a great bunch of people on the access course. Were still in touch and most of us got places at the same uni so we meet up and are going out when the opportunity comes up.

Bloody heck...rambled on a bit there....its being back studying you see the mind wanders at the mere thought of work

ScrewballMuppet · 13/10/2005 16:30

Ohh hope you don't catch the flu. You think they would do something about the cramped learning conditions considering that your being taught about human rights and about infection controland all during the course .

I heard a right contradiction today about nurses uniforms. Basically your not allowed to wear uniforms outside as they can spread infection etc etc but that your suppose to take them home to wash.
Surely thats not right....if your uniform for whatever reason has been into contact with scabies surely washing in a normal washer wouldn't get rid of them...meaning you could pass them onto your children and their friends and school affecting anyone and everyone.

Sorry rambling on again...have finished for the day and mumsnet has been the first port of call so have unwittingly unloaded todays thoughts.

hatstand · 20/10/2005 17:24

a late response - I'm jealous of all your essays and assignments. I want some of those (see my masters thread). though not entirely sure when I'd do them...on a positive - are any of you lot LOVING it. coz I am. It's a complete delight to be studying again.

monkeytrousers · 23/10/2005 15:13

I've got my head well and truly buried in the sand!

screwyslittlegoblins · 25/10/2005 09:35

Loving every minute!! Cakking it every minute too!!

One of the kids has been ill nearly every week so far so balancing that between coursework the childminder and relatives when they are too bad to go to childminder, is very stressful!

Ds number 2 is covered in a rash that appears to be viral related but taking him to doctors....luckily have no lectures this morning just 1-4pm, inlaws agreed to take care of him while I'm there but need to drop him off about 12pm so can get to uni and find a car parking space which takes forever without rushing (so tired of rushing ready to keel over) unfortunately the only appointment available is at 11:30 to which we won't get in to see the doctor till at leat 12pm (speaking from experience) then rush over to inlaws who once start talking have to fight to get away bless em and then rush over to uni and get a space hopefully just in the nick of time....the stress of rushing and I mean rushing is unreal. Just want to sit down and do some work come home and do something with the kids as I miss them.

monkeytrousers · 25/10/2005 19:08

Same here Screwy. gasttic flu then a rash as left us childminderless for 3 weeks. I've done no reading at all! I am loving it though I need to get my finger out!

screwyslittlegoblins · 27/10/2005 21:38

3 weeks how are you managing?
