the class bully, and two from the other class, year four all of them keep picking on ds1. do things like throw the football at his head. whack him with their bag. steal his pens/pencils etc. hide his stuff.
he says that if he tells the teacher, they wiggle out of it. and if he fights back, then he is the one who gets into trouble.

he also says that it is because he is the only muslim boy in the class. and the bombers were all muslims.

what can i suggest to him?/

Aw Stitch.
I'm really sorry.
My dd had similar trouble for a while so I know how it hurts. Actually, it was during that period that I first looked into Home Educating and even though I didn't need to follow it through as an option, it felt good knowing more about it.

In the end the school handled it really well. They talked to those concerned, they gave my dd a card she could show to an adult which meant 'help' (she was v. shy) and they were vigilant.

How old is your ds?

You need a meeting, though, Stitch - it's serious. I wouldn't try and deal with it on the phone. Poor him - needs to be stopped at once.

puff · 30/09/2005 17:45

hope it gets sorted stitch, let us know how you get on .

he is eight. and tbh, he actually doesnt tell me much about it. im more worried becaue of what one of the moms told me that her son tells her.

im glad your dd got the situation under control.

I recently found in our local library a whole clutch of books about how schools and parents can deal with bullying - there's actually loads a school can do, and just having an anti-bullying policy (which may or may not be put into effect) is not enough, a school has to proactively fight bullying, all the time. Sometimes schools deny they have bullying, for misguided pseudo-PR reasons, but more honest schools will say that no school can claim to be entirely free of bullying. I'm sure your local library would have some books on this too. The ones I saw were full of good advice for parents, like stay calm, don't lose your temper, get a parent governor to support you if it helps, etc.
