A good newborn disposable for skinny legs?

Our one week old has been in a mix of 'eco' nappies (the white ones with little green leaves on, sorry, can't remember the name!) and the dreaded Pampers (DS1 was mostly in pampers until LeakageGate!). I find the eco ones ok but not as absorbent, and I've never understood why those ones don't have tabs that fasten over to seal the dirty nappy when you take it off! Angry

The pampers are fine so far, no leaks and fit better round DS2's skinny legs, BUT they absolutely reek of chemicals! I'm trying to open them out and air them but they still stink. Last night, before I worked out where the smell was coming from, I thought we had a gas leak! And thyey're detracting from DS's new baby smell.Sad

I really don't want to get more overpriced, reeking pampers if I can help it. What can people recommend?

(I wanted to go over to washables but in our new house, we have less room for buckets, etc, and the tumble isn't yet externally vented. Am doing more laundry as it is than I can cope with! However, wld be open to suggestions re. good newborn sized washables too...)

DD was a generally skinny baby and I found pampers were the best fit and least leakage.

I used Nature Eco nappies too, but had more leaks with them.

Sorry - not much help really. Hope you find a nice nappy.

I always heard good things about the Tesco own brand, but suspect they may be similar to pampers in construction.

Lidl nappies are really very good and not scented, no idea on the fit for skinny legs my DC were 1+ when I started with disposables. Cheap enough to we worth a pop.

Washables are fab. EasyPeasy do some fabulous newborn nappies (I forget the name). I was very happy with my size 1 Tots Bots Bamboozels (hated the zize 2s though).

The Eco one's you are talking about I found where positively crap on a newborn. (Had to take them into hospital when he was born before moving to cloth) but are great for older babies/toddlers I found. My toddler never leaked in one of those and he was wearing them up until he was 6 months.

I found Sainsbury's Little Ones quite good but the best by far for my skinny newborn was a Muslin fastened with a nappi nippa and a wrap over the top.

That should read, Had to take them into hospital when ds2 was born

and

Ds1 wore the eco one's up until he 16 months not 6. Blush
