Shouldn't kids be on best behaviour on christmas eve?

So why is my 5 year old pushing every boundary there is, and rolling around the floor in full tantrum? I've told her Santa's on his way and that he won't bother coming down our chimney if he sees her behaviour. She doesn't give a shit. I'm on the verge of removing all presents under the tree to show I mean business. Is that a step too far?

Sounds like a totally normal Christmas Eve to me!

I feel your pain. I have a 5yr old AND a 3yr old driving me potty.

Pretend to ring him up... "hello, Father Christmas. I'm sorry to disturb you while you're so busy loading up your sleigh, but I just wanted to let you know that littlehooligan is being a bit naughty and you might want to give our house a miss"'etc etc.
My kids just have to see me go for the phone at the minute and they stop being horrors! Don't know what I'll keep them in line with Boxing Day though!

Should be, but it doesn't work like that unfortunately, treats and breaks with routine are just disastrous for some children.

Be very very wary of any threats that you can't carry through - is there a good children's film on the telly that you can hold over her head as a threat/reward? Is she looking forward to Doctor Who / Strictly tomorrow. Or maybe she'd value a game you could play with her, or cookies you could bake. All of those can reasonably be withheld, but at this point you'd probably be unwilling to genuinely cancel stockings/presents.

Never have presents under the tree. Everything is delivered by FC or random elves.

dcs are a bit older and are tracking Santa on the NORAD site, would that calm her down a bit?

Get them out in the snow to run off every last ounce of energy. Just did with mine and they're flaked out now Grin
HOpe it lasts

Aw it's Xmas eve

My nearly 7 yo dd drew all over the sofa in biro! Shock She is well old enough to know better and can't tell me why she did it. The TV has been switched off and at the moment I am not sure if Santa is still coming. Xmas Wink
