Harness in a pram?

DC1 is due in seven weeks (!) and I just got delivery of the pram/travel system.

There's holes in the pram liner for the harness to come through, but no holes in the pram mattress.

Is it usual to strap the baby in, even when they're in lie-flat pram mode? Should I cut some holes in the mattress to pull the harness straps through?

Or is the harness only for when they're sitting up in buggy mode?

My last experience of a pram is when I was in one Xmas Blush

Most prams don't use a harness in pram mode so it'll be just for when they are in the pushchair part.

While they are lying flat in an enclosed pram they don't need a harness(unless you plan to go over very rough terrain !). You could probably get a set to fix to the rings on the base (around the edge of the mattress) for when the baby is sitting up later on but by then you will probably have gone into a pushchair mode which includes one.

I used one, just in case the pram tipped up.

iirc (was a looooong time ago) there were D-rings for clipping the harness onto, and the harness came around the sides of the matress.

I would definately use one if out and about in icy weather (as I was - ds was an autumn baby).

Mine has a harness in the carry cot/pram, it was helpful for kerbs and stuff and the instructions say to always use it.

I scorned it when mind arrived and cut the straps out of the carrycot. With some experience and wisdom, not to mention (thankfully later on when strapped into the seat) a couple of kerb-related incidents and a lost wheel, I would always strap them in.

thanks ladies! I think I'll have a look for the D-rings and work out how to do it from there.

My Dsis was always worried about someone stealing her baby... I worried about tipping the baby out but we both used a harness.
