Help me ditch disposables at night please!

I'm using motherease nappies and wraps in the day but a disposable at night. The reason for this is that when dd2 was tiny and I used cloth overnight she seemed to have permanent thrush. I persevered for weeks doing all the right things like really hot washing the naps, ironing them etc. Nothing worked, it just seemed that she could not tolerate a wet, warm nappy overnight (By the way, I was changing the nap late night too). We got through a couple of tubes of Canesten over the period and that seemed to clear it, but as soon as she was damp overnight the little red spots were there in the morning.
As soon as I started sposies at night we had no more probs. Hence have been a bit nervous of trying again Shes 7 mths now so I think its about time I had another go!!

ANYWAY - having trawled through this site, I would like to get some Huggles to try as they seem popular and really absorbant (dds a heavy wetter). Unsure which wrap to use though - Ive got some ME Rikkis in large size which should fit. But am attracted to fleece wraps for some reason. Would they make the bottom huge over the huggle? Also (last one I promise!) With a huge bottomed night baby what night clothes do you all use? I guess babygros would be too tight under the crotch for a fleece wrap.

Would the huggle or similar last for 12hrs? She does wake in the night but it would be great if I didnt have to change her!

I would use the MEOS but even with a booster she soaks them during the day.

Any suggestions or comments re the above would be most welcome.

Haven't used Huggles so can't comment on that but sounds like you're on the right track as I would have suggested something with fleece next to the skin given the problems you had before.

We used to (and occasionally still do) use boosted Tots Bots with a fleece wrap and now use Slinki Minkis with huge amounts of stuffing. Each of these has lasted well for 12 hours -- ds was a bit sopping with the Tots (which is why we moved to the Slinki Minkis) but seemed happy. He's only an average wetter though.

The fleece wrap will make for a huge bottom but I definitely found them better than PUL. You can go us a size in babygros/vests, or get a vest ctotch extender (strip with poppers at each end.

another good contender for night time is a bumble - we use those and have never had a problem - they have fleece inners too.

we just use a rikki wrap

and use bigger size bgrows

good luck

I had trouble getting my dd into reusables at night. She wouldn't settle in fleecy wraps and minkis etc, I think they were too bulky and she would also get nappy rash if left for 12 hours. I now change her when I go to bed at 11ish, she stirs but stays asleep, and she wears either a tots bots and extra booster, or huggle and extra booster in an me airflow wrap and is fine. Both of these have fleece liners. She's also a heavy wetter and is sometimes a bit whiffy, but it so much better now she's in reusables all the time.

Try a bumble nappy. Fleece inner. Looks bit like tot bot. Found them excellent for keeping wet0ness away from his bot. (i use ME during day too

It took me a long time to convert to cloth a tnight and ahven't looked back. Even dh doesn't maon about the size any more.

I use wee notions stuffed with a prefold and ME wrap. But ahve jsut bought a stuffie and fluffle for night time too. Fluffle was lovely, but ahven't tried my stuffie it's taken ages to get dry. I always add a paper liner just t o collect the poo if there is any eventhough htey're fleece lined. Oops sorry about spelling very tired.

I have one huggle, and it lasts 12 - 13 hours easily. I always boost night nappies, with hemp or microfibre cloths.
I have a large and find the fit at the back a bit peculiar as it is very high in the rise and is higher than ds's waist at the moment.
It takes a while to dry, the longest of all my nappies (not mine - ds's )
I also have a hemp stuffie, which is excellent and slim for a night nappy even when stuffed. Because it's hemp it takes longer than a towelling nappy to dry. The containment is very good as well.
I have a Bumble, again good as it is stuffable, so it dries fast. I don't find the containment as good as the first two, but it is quite adjustable with a nippa.
Any one of these would be great for you, as they are all fleece lined.
I also use a large Peeweez, I love them for the fit and absorbency, but you would have to add a fleece liner.
Good luck with it, I hope your dd's skin copes with the change ok.
You could try a wool wrap with the night nappy, as it is very breathable and probably heats up less than a fleece wrap (although that's a guess)
There are some pictures of my ds wearing his bumble and stuffie on my nappy blog here
And I'm about to add a photo of him wearing his Huggle very soon.
