Today on my way back from church,i was so tired so put the breaks on my baby's pram and sat next to her,the bus was wet,i just turned around for a second and the bus swerved, when i looked back i saw the pram tipping over,it was up side down with my baby in there and was right at the door,,those people who have said you can act when faced with a scarry, dangerous situation,i apploud them,

she was sleeping and didn't utter a sound so i thought i had killed her by my negligence,i just started crying but there was a couple who walked over and told me that it happens all the time and that she was ok,they helped me get out of the bus coz my mind was blank,,anyway she is ok and no harm was done,,however i feel terrible coz i let go of the handle,i shouldn't have..DH says thats part of motherhood...

it's ok. She's ok. Xmas Grin

Don't be too hard on yourself, these things happen to everyone.

thank you Turkey ,its just after it happens you beat yourself over and over about it,thinking of what you should have done, and it doesn't really help.but makes you aware for next time:o

Your DH is quite right - it is part of motherhood. I've tipped a DC out of a car seat before now, and mis-judged the width of a doorway with another. SO relax - she'll be fine :).

Well it has obviously affected you a lot more than it has your DD! Honestly, we have ALL been there. Any minute now there will be about 50 people on this thread, all telling you the various ways they have injured their DC.

I'll start the ball rolling. When DS1 was 6 weeks old I tripped up a step whilst holding him and whacked his head on the corner of a chimney breastShock He is 4 now and very bright and normal.

fortyplus · 12/12/2010 16:16

Gosh - I nearly killed my 2 several times! Fell down the stairs carrying ds1 so nearly killed myself as well! I once nearly choked ds2 by throwing a rolled up piece of paper in his open (laughing) mouth that then lodged over his windpipe.

Mine are 15 & 17 now - hale and hearty despite my shortcomings. We all adore eachother.

Mums always beat themselves up when things go wrong - it's normal. Smile

I know how you feel when my ds was tiny i did a asda shop and put all the bags on the handles, walked round the other side to put my pin in the machine thingy and the buggy up ended and he was hurled upside down, my stomach still churns thinking about it but was also told by lovely people that these things happen and it'll be fine, and it was! :)x

APixieInMyTea · 12/12/2010 16:53

It's fine.

Last night My 12 week old fell asleep in my arms and as I tried to get him into the bedroom to put him down I whacked his head on the door. Blush

I tipped the pram backwards too with ds1.

Motherhood wouldn't be motherhood without these things happening.

pleasegivemeacuddle · 12/12/2010 17:25

talking of whacking heads i went to lift ds into the car yday and bashed his head on the roof :s he only cried for about 30 seconds so cant have been too painful(lets hope no lasting damage!)

ItsAHollyJollyTee · 12/12/2010 17:26

At 3 weeks of age I dropped my son resulting in a concussion and broken ribs.

We've all done it!

He's 18 months now and bright as a button and hits all milestones with flying colours.
