Brought a book confused- help

Hi i brought the Gina Ford book on sleeping and am alittle confused re the routine.

In it she says

7am Wake up Bottle and breakfast
9-9 30 nap 40 mins
11.30-12.00 lunch
12.30-2.30 sleep 2 hrs
2.30 bottle
5- dinner
6 bedtime routine
7 bottle and bedtime

Ok so is it realy ok for a baby of 7 months to go from 7am til 2.30 without a bottle. this seems a rather long time to me even though she will be having food in there too.

Does anyone do this routine? and has it worked or has anyone done this and it hasnt worked.

Does anyone have any recommendations on the best routine to follow. I dont want this to turn into a debate just what people have found works for them.

The reason i am asking is DD is a very bad sleeper she wakes up Lots at night and wants a bottle so i think she is having too much milk at night and not enough in the day ifswim.

We co sleep

I have posted in chat too but after thought it was probably better to post here.

Hi there. There is a thread specifically for all those following the GF routines, and you will get lots of info and opinions there.

I am loosely following GF, my DD is 7 months, but we have only just started weaning, so not following the above to the letter. I think I have found the best way to approach GF is NOT to follow her to the letter, but let it be just a guide and a general shape of things. Each baby is different, and it might just not work for you and/or your baby.

For instance, GF says to start weaning by giving lunch first, but my DD simply was not interested at that time of day. I am having more success giving her some food at 4pm, as she is generally more hungry in the second half of the day.

You will probably have lots of people come along who say to avoid GF like the plague, and some who say they followed it to the letter and it was great. However, IMO the best way is just to take from it what will work, and chuck the rest out.

PS re the confusion bit - I found that I had to read her book several times over to get the gist of it, especially the bits about weaning.

Sleepless nights are knackering I know. However I am not a fan of very rigid routine for babies. Try and do a feed as late as poss in evening. maybe give fromagefrais quite late to fill tummy. As for leaving a 7month old with no feed from 7ish til 2ish- I wouldn.t. Mind you my mother thinks i.m too soft. Also no hurry for me to get strict routine as not working at moment. I do have baby brain rot though through tiredness... But a happy toddler...

It is a long time since I did GF, but I think they are supposed to have some milk with their lunch, i.e. have some solids, then have their milk, then finish the solids. Then the amount of milk is slowly reduced at lunchtime until they are having a proper lunch and no milk at that time.
