When I take the bottles out of the cold water fluid do I need to rinse them? Also can I use the fluid rather than the tablets for cold water steriliser?

what is the best way to reheat my breast milk as I dont have a microwave?

Thanks.

You don't need to sterilise bottles etc that you are putting breastmilk into - just a wash in hot soapy water or a run through the dishwasher is perfectly fine.

I used to heat EBM in a bowl of hot water, as microwaving it destroys a lot of the goodies in it.

I thought you weren't supposed to use a microwave at all to heat up any kind of baby milk. That is what I read in all the baby books and was told at NCT ante natal classes.

Daisystone- you shouldn't microwave breastmilk but formula is fine.obviously books etc say you shouldn't because of hot spots but everyone i know microwaves their bottles (formula).

I certainly microwave bottles - all it takes is a good shake to get rid of hotspots, and you soon get to know how long you need to nuke 4oz, 6oz etc.

If you are using Milton sterilising tablets, you don't need to rinse when you take them out. Unless you rinse with just-boiled water, you'll be rinsing them with non-sterile water, so not much point sterilising them in the first place!

I'm sure the tablets work out cheaper than the fluid, but I've used the fluid for a quick wipe in an emergency and nothing bad seems to have happened!

some own brand sterlising fluid does need rinsing (with boiled water) so opt for milton or similar as less fuss!
