It's all relative I think Grin> I don't love them either, but sometimes one has to be leniant.

DD (nearly 9) has and goes on the occasional sleepover but I make sure the next day is a very quiet one, whether she likes it or not. And definitely no sleepover on a school night - which results in 'but I want to go' accompanied by big tears, foot stomping, door slamming etc. and me standing fast and knowing I've done my job as a mother when dd tells me she hates me and it's so not fair. Also generally if I'm hosting, I aim to get them into bed by 20:00 and tell them they have 30 mins to giggle after which I'll turn into an ogre and will split them up. Usually works. though not sure whether that would still apply to 12 year olds LOL

DD is having a sleep over birthday party in a couple of weeks. Oh yeah! My main trepidation for that one is though that one of her best friends is highly allergic so I always worry I end up hospitalising her BlushShock

Ah,sleep overs are a right of passage...esp.for girls! I remember staying up nearly all night at one aged 12/13 so you're doing a great job if you get them to sleep before midnight! Also remember being marched home from my best friends one night as we wouldn't go to sleep...thought her mum was a bit mean really. If you're hosting I'd advise letting the kids sleep in the lounge so at least they don't disturb you,and no sleep overs on a school night

I think in the holidays or special occasions they're fine.

I was rarely allowed as a child and really resented it.
