Are you just a bit overwhelmed Stitch? Think of it this way - who else would you want it to be? Exactly!

Lonelymum · 21/09/2005 18:09

Can't handle the responsibility or can't handle the banality of the comment?

stitch · 21/09/2005 18:11

cant handle the responsibility

im just a person. not even a very good one at that. cant handle the kids. or the house. how am i supposed to be the centre of someone elses world?

But as Jakstini says, who else could be more important that you?
The house doesn't matter, but the children do. Don't worry about the house!

misdee · 21/09/2005 18:13

think teh disney channel is the most important thing in my kids lives

JoolsToo · 21/09/2005 18:14

that's what you call a blinding insight into the obvious

Lonelymum · 21/09/2005 18:15

Stitch, think of the millions of people in this world who are parents. Do you really think they are all better than you? Some make great parents and som make terrible parents, but most of us just jog along in the middle. Do your best, do what you believe to be right, and you will be fine.

LadyTophamHatt · 21/09/2005 18:16

my kids would choose their Dad over me anyday.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest either, I'm just glad they don't harrass me every second of the day anymore.

stitch · 21/09/2005 18:47

sorry everyone, im just having a really really crap time.
stupid support group gave me all that to deal with. long day. and loads of crap from ds1 and dd. i think i am throwing a tantrum.

ds1 is in the kitchen making cheese sandwiches for his siblings coz i am refusing to make them dinner. just want a hole in the ground to swallow me up.
dh has been nice to me for the last few days. not wonderful, but nice. and i just cant handle it all.
ds1 wet the bed three times last night. am worried sick about him. he is supposed to go camoing on friday. how is he going to do that?
cant get him to do his reading or his homework. just lots of attitude. ds2 changes clothes three times a day. seems to think clean clothes come from the sky, like manna from heaven.
please feel to ignor. i think im just having a tantrum. have tears rolling down my face. wish id just stop, and start acting like the grownup in the house.

How old are they Stitch? I know what you are going through. Mine are making life miserable for me too.

bundle · 21/09/2005 18:56

being the most important person in someone's life doesn't mean you have to be perfect. can you get a bit of a break stitch?

stitch · 21/09/2005 18:57

8.5 , 4 and 2.5

im feeling a bit calmer now. just hope they dont come and whine at me anymore. hoping they will just go to bed and tomorrow will be another day.

dh not home till friday. and if ds1 goes to camp, he wont be seeing his dad from wednesday morning till sunday evening.

OP posts:
stitch · 21/09/2005 18:58

no bundle. thats a big part of the problem

Lonelymum · 21/09/2005 19:00

Sounds like your ds1 is upset or worried about something. Is it canoeing he is doing on Friday? Why does the fact that he has wet the bed stop him doing that? I have a 9 yo who is making life hell and occasionally wets the bed, and a 7 yo who seems to be a manic depressive, so I can understand what you are going through.

Fio2 · 21/09/2005 19:01

stitch i think alot of think the responsibility is too much sometimes, often overwhelming. Please dont beat yourself up about it as lonelymum says alot of us jog along in the middle. i for one am not perfect and certainly not a perfect mother but i do my best to my ability i think but sometimes we all lose it and feel bewildered

bundle · 21/09/2005 19:02

where do you live stitch? is there anyone from the parenting class who could help organise some support for you?

stitch · 21/09/2005 19:02

thankyou lonelymum for listening to me.
its camping. sorry, my typing. am scared of him wetting his sleeping bag and all the kids making fun of him. i think i am more stressed about this than he is. or actually he must be very stressed about this, or he wouldnt be wetting thebed wouldhe?
oh god......

OP posts:
Lonelymum · 21/09/2005 19:03

Oh right, not canoeing but camping, I get it! Look, my 9 and 7 yo went for an overnight camp in the summer with cubs and ds1 wet the bed then. I didn't know until after the camp was over and I am not sure he told anyone at the time, but he now won't go on any camps again (I mean, that is what he says). Your son is not the only bed wetter at his age. Could you ring up whoever is organising the camp to give them warning that he might wet the bed? They must have dealt with this before.

bundle · 21/09/2005 19:04

stitch can you get him some of the more discreet pants you can get for older bedwetters? or a pampers bedmat to place inside the bag without his mates seeing? have you tried ERIC (the enuresis people) for advice?

stitch · 21/09/2005 19:04

bundle, its not meant to be a parentling class. but a support group. in the afternoon bit, after lunch, the moms sit in another room and do something whilst the kids play in the main part. usually it is some craft activity, or beauty or something totally unrelated to kids.
they just decided to change the format and give us a lesson in playing with our kids. just all a bit much for me.

OP posts:
bundle · 21/09/2005 19:05

but who organises it? are you in a surestart area?

Lonelymum · 21/09/2005 19:05

Also, include some spare pjs, pants, whatever for ds and let him know you hav done this. I have heard that a regular bed wetter can stop wetting the bed when he knows it won't be a problem if it happens. It kind of gets them off the hook, stops them worrying about it and making it happen IYSWIM.

stitch · 21/09/2005 19:07

eric, thats a thought. see, i just need to calm down and follow this through. or have friends to help me calm down and think it through .
lm, yes, they must have experience of this. i should call them and discuss with them.
would eric have a website?

OP posts:
bundle · 21/09/2005 19:08

ERIC

stitch · 21/09/2005 19:09

its a place called family focus. is a charity. i think i am in a surestart area. will find out about it.
lm, you are right. ds wasnt dry at night till 5.5. i know all this. but am just not thinking straight.
