I just wandered as I met someone the other day who told me their child was 29 and a half months.(picture me, not very good at maths counting how many months are in a year before realising she was 2 and a bit) And she wasn't the only one i've noticed a lot of people count in months.
When is it sensible to stop ? My guess is after about 18 months???

I think once they hit 2 then it's in years or 'just 2' or '2 and a half' or 'coming up for 3' etc.

If somebody says any month up to 23 months, I automatically 'understand' the age of their child. A know what a 20 month old child is, I don't have to translate it. But 27 or 32 months for example and I have to work out their real age.

After 18 months.

Yes - same here - at 2.

29 and a half months...is it pfb syndrome, or someone whose life seems to pass by very slowly??

I just tried to calculate my own age in months and my brain has shut down from the sheer horror of how old it makes me sound...

Yeah, I agree with Showaddywaddy that once they get to 2yrs, it gets too confusing to do it in months.
It's also a bit pointless - there's a big difference between a 2 month old and a 6 month old but hardly any difference (developmentally, size etc) between a 2.2 year old and a 2.6 year old.

I was going to say @ 2 years with DD1 (PFB), with DD2 I think from about 13 months I started rounding up/down as I lost count Blush.

Showaddywaddy · 16/11/2010 11:59

I have a default of 'she was 3 in May'. Next year I will start with 'she'll be 4 in May'. I lose track otherwise. Grin

mousymouse · 16/11/2010 11:59

when I lost the count, about 2 years.

moajab · 17/11/2010 22:33

I still say 22 months when asked how old my DS is. But once he's turned 2 it will be 2, 2 1/4, 21/2 etc

blametheparents · 17/11/2010 22:36

After 18 months

Rockbird · 17/11/2010 22:43

When she turned 2 as well. Trouble is now she's 3 in a couple of months, I don't want to say she's nearly 3 because it makes me all emotional but I think I'm stretching 2 and a half a bit :o
