DD2 is 8 weeks & I am still using water & cotton wool but getting a bit fed up now, especially when out.

When did you give up being precious and move on to wipes?

I used a face cloth on their bums - Just put a wet cloth in one of the zip bags and then bleached in a bucket, rinsed and washed ...

I found cotton wool an absolute nightmare!

Washable wipes or cotton wool and water at home, wipes when we're out and about (DS is 6 months).

Oooh ladyviper I am being seduced by the marketing for those water wipes for (soon-to-arrive) dc3 (despite having 2 dc who had normal ones from day 1)... but they are £4 a packet! How did you get a free sample?

Mostly wipes since DS was a couple of weeks old but I often use a bit of cotton wool/water at home when his bum is looking a bit red.

Never used cotton wool and water. Wipes from Day 1.

Top & Tail bowl ranks as the most pointless piece of baby equipment I ever had.

DS is 14 months and we still use cotton wool and warm water. Like MVP said, it's always been part of the nappy changing routine so have never seen it as hassle. Started using wipes when out from a few months ago but only when absolutely necessary - the ingredients in those things are hideous plus it must cost a fortune if you use them all the time?
Don't think it's being pfb at all - I just don't want unnecessary chemicals on or around my family and I don't think wipes are cost effective.

With DC 1 until about 6 weeks. With DC 2 from about 6 minutes.Grin

We had wipes in the hospital for a week, no one said a peep to us. Wasn't until we got home that the midwife said we should use cotton wool and water, which lasted all of five minutes...
