rickman, you have 4 don't you? You'd have to be a saint for them to never get on your nerves, surely? Yes, mine do get on my nerves sometimes, of course they do. Not all the time, but sometimes.

Ask me again in about 5 weeks when ill have a new born and a 15 month old!!!

I have been known to tell him to shut up under my breath.

Today at Legoland I wasn't feeling great and he kept carrying on to his liking, so much to my shame I grabbbed him and hissed in his ear just shut up and do what you are told, first time I ever told him to shut up and then to my eternal embarrassment he announced in a very loud voice to DH and the queue, OOhhhhhhhhh she just said shut upthat's naughty isn't it Daddy.

Cue, one squirming DH, caught between supporting me and reinforcing the fact I had been sussed.

Ahh......... the joys of a 4 year old.

Yes alot but i am feeling loads guilty now cos i just shouted at them when i put them to bed cos they were playing up

Mine do - DS more than DD, if I'm being honest . Not all the time..most of the time they're lovely..but some days I could see them far enough

yep, loads.
I too am an irritable old bag (and I only have 2 as an excuse!).. they often drive me mad, and I am very bad tempered (family would say I was before kids anyway!)...

but there are also those extra special moments where I could just hug them to pieces - and, although few and far between, it's the quality- not the quantity sometimes.

Of course! I love them dearly but they sometimes push all the wrong buttons, I am sure I get on their nerves jsut as much

Errrr, I'll just say yes otherwise I will be here all night.

If it makes any of you feel better I've shouted shut up several times today.

Obviously, it doesn't work because they don't stop whinging, moaning, screaming, shouting but for that moment when I say it I finally get their attention.
5 minutes later thay are doing it again.

Yes, ds has really, really got on my nerves today. Just general disobedience and whining - oh and dragging on my arm which I loathe. I can't stand it. Then I shouted at him because he nearly fell down the stairs at the tile shop even though I'd warned him 3 times not to go near it. Got shocked looks from a couple without any children. One day it'll be their turn. Ha.

Love them to bits mostly but they do drive me demented. I am an irritable old bat with no patience and I regularly lose the plot with one or the other of them. I feel awful about it. Like you, I resolve to start afresh as a bright new shiny mummy in the morning - but rarely do.

Is there anything in particular that is bugging you or is it just the whole general picture?

Yup me too
ds 4 frequently drives me crazy
he talks constantly, non stop questions all day (yes i know i should be proud but he still drives me crazy!)
and i frequently scream and shout and tell him to shut up

Nope, mine doesn't get on my nerves. But I'm not a stay at home parent. That may play some role in it. Also, DD is and always has been extraordinarily good-natured. It's very, very easy to love her - her tantrums are not frequent and don't last but a minute or two.

If it's any consolation I wasn't expecting it to be you starting the thread.

It's horrid though, isn't it?
I'd love to have a day when it didn't end with me shouting at them to go to sleep becuase I'm fed up with sight and sound of them. everyday I hope today will be the day.

My neighbours must think I'm satan because of the rage I get into sometimes.

I'm sad to type this(and embarrassed) but it's our DS1 who is the main cause of my shouting. When just ds2+3 are here i rarely shout but as soon Harry is home from school it starts. The arguments, the fighting, screaming. He winds than both up instantly which then sends me over the edge too.
