Gro-bags for toddlers?

Just realised my twin boys are about to grow out of their gro-bags. I didn't think this would be an issue as I expected the 18 month size to last till they were about 2, but it seems they have had a growth spurt.

So what to do? Buy more gro-bags - problem there is I need at least 3 and the bigger size don't seem to be as widely available second hand (I really can't afford them new). Or is it time for quilts?

They move around quite a bit in their cots and we live in an old flat with draughty windows - when the wind blows the wrong way it can get quite cold. I think this really means I need bigger gro-bags, but I'd love to hear other opinions.

I was in a similar situation when my ds 2.10 was right at the end of his grobag. I decided to go for a duvet and bought a junior single which is fairly large and now I tug it into his bed. He wriggles around alot, but the duvet is so big that he is never really out of it. Could you buy some really fleecy pjs and socks and then even if they get out of the duvet, they will be warm

I've been having this dilemma recently and have gone with buying the next size up of gro-bag. I've only just started having a full nights sleep (well 6 months ago but feels quite recent!) and also have a cold, old draughty house and the duvet coming off is too stressful to contemplate!

I think the big bed is about 6 months+ off and so have got two, so it's quite an expense for only 6 months or so, but am pregnant again so hopefully will use them in the future too. Won't be buying 1 togs for the summer though I don't think - will go for duvet then.

We bought DD1 a thin (0.5 tog) 18-36mo one and she sleeps in it in her big bed with a duvet over too we found when we took it off when we moved her into a bed she started waking cold and/or lost in her bed, grobag back on and she started sleeping again.

I got Slumbersac ones from Ebay - much cheaper than Grobags and they've lasted my two boys perfectly - they still look brand new.

I'd keep them in sleeping bags as long as possible, but saying that if you are planning to put them into beds soon it may be worth going the whole hog and going for quilts. In which case, the fleecy all in one suits you can get from supermarkets etc quite cheaply, may be a better bet.
