Nearly always dry in morning - should I ditch nappy?

DS1 is 27 mths and we started potty training 2 weeks ago. After the first few day (which I found a nightmare) he suddenly got it and has been dry in the day for over a week now. He goes without nappy for his nap and stays dry. To my surprise his night nappy has been dry 5 days out of the last 7, and even the couple of days it was only very slightly wet. Had absolutely no idea this could happen, and quite happy to leave in nappy at night, but just wondering if I should take nappy off in case he goes back to wetting? Or how long should I leave him in nappies if he keeps being dry?

Grab the bull by the horns, ditch the night nappy, but have a plastic sheet on the bed (with another clean sheet under it for easy night time removal just in case) and praise him heavily for his dry nights.
Exoect the occasional accident, but it's well worth it in the long run.
Good luck and I must admit to a little at 27 months. Good going girl!

Take it off, take it off, take it off. Seize the moment. Have done this with all three of mine (only let them go 3 days though ) and it's been fine. The worst that can happen is that you have to go back to pull-ups but the best is that there's no more nappies, day or night. Good luck!

Ooh yes, waterproof sheet is a must.

take it off imo. I didn't realise ds2 was ready to lose his night time nappy until the babysitter forgot to put it on twice and both times he was dry both times a.m. You can always put a sheet or pampers pad down.

My ds potty trained at 21 months and at 26 months had three weeks of dry nappies but then became less frequent so kept in nappies for another six months. once he got down to 3/4 dry nights a week stopped with nappies - dry at night for 8 months now.
dd is 2 and out of nappies for 3 months now, and is dry about twice a week on average - think I might try taking her out of nappies sooner rather than later.
