If you stuck your child in front of the TV, how long before they would move?

I actually think it would be a good 4 hours before my dd actually MOVED from the sofa. I can't imagine her ever being bored of telly. I only let her watch 1 hour at a time though. She is nearly 3.

I am tempted to experiment this afternoon to see if she will just sit there all day ... (well I'm 38 weeks pregnant!)

would fall asleep in front of it if it was spongebob square pants but probably could last 20 mins for anything else.

DS - two hours but would be fidgeting around all over the place and about 10 seconds for his mouth.... he asks questions all the way through. DD about 10 seconds and that would only be for the teletubbies.

I have tried this and the answer's a good few hours! Mp, you're pregnant, go for it!

Mum2girls · 15/09/2005 20:58

days probably

Lacrimosa · 15/09/2005 21:00

not until I switched it off, I have cable!

flamesparrow · 15/09/2005 21:05

Depends what's on... Care Bears - however long the film lasts (which can be many hours if you just keep pressing start on the dvd again )

If I am asleep on the sofa (terrible woman I know, but 16 weeks pregnant and still at the exhausted stage), then she will stay quiet for a good 2 hours - not always sat watching TV, but nice and quietly playing

tortoiseshell · 15/09/2005 21:05

Ds would be until it switched off again (although he might raid the kitchen for snacks), dd would be about 20 minutes or so, unless it's Teletubbies in which case she's there indefinitely.

nightowl · 16/09/2005 05:24

about 20 seconds for both of them

trinityrocks · 16/09/2005 09:30

About a week and a half I reckon

My DS loves TV which is sometimes a blessing and at other times a worry. The first he says when he wakes is "Mummy can I watch a DD" (his word for DVD) and then will quite happily watch a Disney film from start to finish. I think he gets it from his Dad as he is a TV/film addict too (wonder if its a male thing).

DD is not bothered by TV unless she is tired, she prefers to draw/play/computer.

Out of the two I would say she is a brighter child, not that DS isn't but I have always thought since she was a baby that she seemed to pick things like crawling/talking etc up a lot quicker than DS.

10 seconds tops, unless it's Big Cook Little Cook (at which point she'll go and get her apron out) or smartenines (cue the demon scissor weilding beast)

cinderelly · 16/09/2005 13:50

lol..my dd is the same as crazydazy ds. She even calls dvd dd too (too many ds dds in this sentence isnt there).

Am getting worried now tho and starting to feel like a bad mother. She gets plenty of exercise in her nursery but as soon as she comes home she just vegitates. But after working allday, thats all I want to do too! Any suggestions. We need to get off our fat @rses, but to do what?
