6 month old crying non stop - help!

Hi Ladies

This is my first post so go easy on me...My son turned 6 months old on Sunday and since that joyous day has been crying non stop during his waking hours. He has 4 teeth, two of which came through last week but since then is showing no normal signs of teething (no red cheecks, temp, sore bum, dribbling, chewing on everything in sight!) He is also feeding as usual, is showing no visible signs of being in any pain (although I have given him 2.5ml of calprofen) but he's still screaming. He won't take his normal naps although he is yawning away and he won't even let me sooth him. I am getting to the point (I am ashamed to say) that I am not just sat staring at him in bewilderment and contempt! Anymore suggestions / ideas would be greatly appreciated

Thank you
Kate x

Have u spoken to your HV or GP about it?
I think that it could have been colic or reflux when newborn. I think reflux can continue until fully weaned, but don't quote me on that. Have u asked about this?
I don't know if u have noticed patterns of when the crying starts and stops, like before or after feeding, when sitting or lying down, etc

I would take your baby to the GP. Maybe your lo has an ear infection. Teething is unpleasent but the level of crying you describe is not normal teething.

Don't worry about looking silly, its what a GP is for. A good GP will understand.

Thanks for the replies :)

I had never considered colic as he has never suffered from it but thats def a good pint as he is being weaned at the moment.

With regards to my HV - she isn't much use, I have only really seen her once and when I have rung her she has made me feel like an overreacting hypercondriacte (sp?) and the same with the GP - although I have to say an ear infection had crossed my mind or maybe a sore throat seems as though myself and DH have been bad last week or so even though we have tried so hard to not pass it on I think sometimes it can't be helped....He has just had his lunch so I think I'll see how he goes for next few hours and if no change I'll ring Docs when DH comes home from work

Are u sure he doesn't have ear infection? Try pressing on the ear gently and see how he reacts. I don't think it's colic or reflux TBH, it's too late for that if he didn't have it from the beginning. I would get him to the GP really.
