Ds got his first party invite from a little boy in nursery.
I've never had to do this before and am wondering what happens.
Are they all different and just phone and ask the mum what she wants?
invite says birthday tea at 2pm. ds sleeps till 2.30 - so should I ask her if I can come late? how long do they last? I presume I stay with ds for the afternoon. how much do you spend on a pressie - or take flowers to the mum??
help??

it will most probably be a couple of hours, am amazed she hasn't put end time on it

I think you should be on time for it and just rearrange his sleep to earlier

yes you should stay with DS he's far too young to leave

I spend £5 on a pressie .. you can get lots for a 2 year old for that

you can take flowers for mum if you want to be particularly nice .. its a lovely gesture but most people don't bother IME

oh and you should call ASAP to RSVP and just check off these points

have fun

thanks Twig - will phone her this afternoon - haven't a clue who she is!

Agree absolutely with Twiglett - 2 hours, £5 pressie, wouldn't bother with anything for Mum, arrive on time, RSVP asap, stay with DS.

I'd say if the party is great and the mum does a fab job, maybe a small bunch of flowers afterwards as a thank you.

Or if you'd feel a bit OTT, just a thank you card with a nice message inside.

When dd gets invited to someones house for a party or just for tea I send her with a little strip of 3 ferrero roche (awful spelling but you know what I mean !) chocolates. Only cost about 60p so they do not make anyone feel awkward but just a way of saying thank you.
