How do I deal with 16 monthy old DS who gets in a state when we go to the Barbour?

It is so stressful. He screams from start to finish, kicks shakes his head. I have to leave a huge tip for the poor girl who cuts his hair.

Do I persevere? or is it cruel to put him through the stress ? I don't know what to do for the best.

I'd just leave it - see if he'll let you trim it yourself without a fuss, or do it while he's asleep if you have to. Life's too short to fight them into things which don't matter that much.

16 months? I'd leave it a couple of years, tbh. But then I had to make DH take our DSs to the barber for the first time, it broke my heart when those wee blond curls were cut off. :(

(And they were a lot older than your DS!)

Sorry but pmsl at Barbour! :)

If he's so young, I'd just leave it tbh.

Does he give a toss what he looks like? Look, it's up to you; if you can bear the stress of putting him through it, he'll forget it anyway. Personally, I wouldn't (and didn't) bother; indeed, DS2 had such an aversion to having his hair washed that I didn't even do that for a couple of years some time. Blush

Can you get a mobile hairdresser to come to your house? DS's phobia of haircuts was cured with five minutes playing water fights with her spray. She runs clippers over it first then tidies with scissors - it looks great and he still has two ears, everyone's happy!

i would leave it for a bit, at that age he can get away with longer hair

The what?

DS was like that, screaming hysteria as soon as the gown went round him. Used to feel so sorry for the barber Blush

In the end, I agreed to allow CM to use her clippers (used to do her own DS). Sheared him like a sheep while the other mindees clapped and cheered. Not a peep out of him. Hmm

They do grow out of it eventually...
