For me it was giving ds2 a dummy, was always dead against them, then ds2 had one for 4 years! Talk about eating your words!
What did you do?

Disney films
Pants with pictures on
Millions of toys

but I'm holding out on not walking in when Top of the Pops is on & saying "is that a boy or a girl?"

Redtartanlass · 12/09/2005 16:07

My mum used to answer difficult questions with "I'll tell you when you're older" Ahhhhhh drove me mad, but say it myself now

Enid · 12/09/2005 16:11

Barbie
MacDonalds
Sleepovers at 5
buying boxes of plastic jewellery/pink crap
Pepperami
disney princess pants
dora pyjamas
Refreshers ice lollies
Fringes
baby annabel
cheap trainers from Tesco
hold up dd2 and let her wee on the side of the road
let them run around in shops

I could go on

Kelly1978 · 12/09/2005 16:12

dummy, but only for one out of four of them, so not bad.
smacking.

My parents think I'm horrible actually, but never mind!

nailpolish · 12/09/2005 16:13

expatinscotland · 12/09/2005 16:17

McDonald's - her eyes light up when we pass the golden arches

Dummies

Bottle feed

Spend more than £20 on a pair of shoes for her

guttertongue · 12/09/2005 16:37

say "shut up!" (more times than I can say)

Say "shut the f* up!" (only twice).

Say "you silly child!" (all the time)

steffee · 12/09/2005 16:45

I swore I wouldn't have the tv on all day as a background noise - I lied.

I swore I would take them to the park every day - I lied.

I swore I wouldn't let them have more than one biscuit/chocolate bar/sweets/packet of crisps a day - I lied.

I swore I would bath them each night, then storytime etc before bed - I lied (though do it most nights)

I swore I wouldn't bribe them - lmao I lied so badly with that one!!

I swore I would never do OTT things like my mum has done on occasion like cut off my hair for stealing a Cadburys Caramel! - I haven't lied yet and pray I never will.

I swore I would not get involved with the stupid family games my mum, and her mum, and her mum all play - I lied (kind of, I do try really hard with that one)

I think that's it

steffee · 12/09/2005 16:47

Oh yeah and let them wee at the side of the road, I hate it but sometimes you really have to!

crazydazy · 12/09/2005 16:49

I don't bath them every night either and feel really bad about it sometimes!!! Always give them a wash before bed though, grubby little monsters!!!

Bribing is my worst thing but I believe its hard to get through one day without a teeny weeny bribe!!

puddle · 12/09/2005 16:53

use puddings as a bribe

crazydazy · 12/09/2005 16:56

Oh yeah Puddle I know that one. Every night I say to the kids "eat all your dinner and then you can have ......." it works but you just think of the best way to get something down them!!!

" eat it up, there are children starving in the world"

i wasn't a big eater as a kid - i didnt mind what i ate as long as i didnt have a lot of it and my nan who basically brought me up in my mad mothers stead always said this to me.

and i try always to hold fast to the fact that i wont make them finish everything on their plate if they dont want to.

but sometimes if you have tried hard and cooked after work and you get groans and moans something like that just comes out of your mouth

Mandymoo · 12/09/2005 17:37

I swear too in front of them sometimes. I knew it had to stop when dd1, then only 2, dropped a toy on the floor round at my dad's and said ' oh fucky bugger' with a big grin on her face. Her grandad was mortified, not as much as I was though!!!!

harpsichordcarrier · 12/09/2005 18:24

nothing yet but only because I had very low standards to start with...

stephone · 12/09/2005 18:47
