Getting legs stuck between bars of the cot

DD rolls over a lot in her cot even when she's asleep. She gets her legs stuck between the bars all the time and sometimes she starts screaming in the middle of night because she can't move and it's woken her up.

Has anyone come up with a way to stop this? At first the sleeping bag stopped it but not anymore. I thought about draping some kind of material around the sides but she'd probably pull it off or suck on it.

how old is your lo? have you tried a cot bumper? They are suitable from birth until your lo can get up on their hands and knees. After that they could try to use them to climb out the cot.

get a huge length of wide ribbon from a haberdashery and weave it in and out of the bottom of the cot bars so it goes up about a foot from the bottom of the bed.

DD (8 months) does this but I stick one of her soft toys between her and the bars on the side she always rolls too. Doesn't always work but it's enough to stop her doing it in her sleep.

I fold a fleece cot blanket lenghtways so that it's about 6 inches wide and weave it around every 3rd bar on the long end of the cot. It stops ds from sticking his arms and legs out, but if he stands on it it collapses down to matress level so he can't use it to climb out.

DD is 5 and a 1/2 months. Someone told me that I shouldn't use the cot bumpers until she's a year old.

Thanks for the suggestions. I might try weaving a blanket through the bars.

if you tie the cot bumper on round the bars instead of round the top of the cot then it'll slide down too.... stopping them climbing on it

i tie ds's on like this, and also just a single tie rather than a bow, so if he yanks on it it comes off

having said that... it only comes about a third of the way down the cot anyway

We gave up and put our ds in a travel cot, worked brilliantly. He stayed in there until he was ready for the bed.

cot bumpers can be used UNTIL your lo gets mobile - it is quilts/pillows, etc that can be used at 1 - by that time it would be too late to start using a bumper as they would be more able to use it to escape
