Clothes to go over cloth nappies

Hi everyone

My 6 month old son is in cloth nappies, which obviously give him a bit of a big bottom! Normally I just go a size up for clothes, but sometimes this gives me too long legs and arms. I've found vest extenders, which are brill. I usually find that dungarees are more tolerant than trousers, although joggers are ok. Has anyone found particular brands that are better than others?

Thanks for your help!

I've never had a problem with this for dd2 but then she's mostly in dresses I suppose.

I think this is more of a problem with little boys clothes - I tend to buy a size or two bigger with trousers then take up the hem at the bottom (I am quite cack handed at sewing so doesn't always look perfect but he doesn't care! Grin).

I've got a girl so not sure about boys' clothes, but I've found Asda are pretty generously cut around the bottom. Sainsbury's and Tesco are skimpier, but Sainsbury's do trousers which roll up at the bottom with a button/tab, I buy these in a bigger size and she wears them rolled up.

Frugi is great. Expensive but great. I sales shop there and buy trousers from a couple of seasons ago which are well reduced. They are cut well so last form being massive on them to being really rather too small without looking daft so I find myself having to trouser shop far less often.

I agree with Sainsbury's, their roll up trousers are fantastic. Dd is a pretty hefty almost 2 year old. She has a pair of jeans in 2-3 which roll up and have a little strap to keep them up that fit really well.

Course now she has decided to potty train and doesn't own any trousers that stay up without a nappy Angry

Frugi (www.welovefrugi.com) are good but quite pricey. DS lived in dungarees, and in the summer either just a nappy on the bottom, or elasticated waist gym shorts from Decathlon bought for 2 years above his age.

Have found Ladybird jeans by Woolworths good. They still exist online or you could try ebay.

Thanks for all your help! Will try Sainsbury's I think. I saw frugi - nice but expensive. Will have to look out for sale items.

Thanks again.

I'm finding Next dungarees (and vests/rompers/sleepsuits) particularly generous around the bum area - also White Company stuff.

Would love to hear about other brands!

John Lewis tend to be quite big, and we had a pair of newborn jeans from Pumpkin Patch with a bigger nappy area than 0-3 M&S.

We are finding Next trousers quite snug, but I use terry squares so the nappy is big.
