Which is the one that you put at the bottom of the nappy pile and only use if you're VERY behind on the laundry?
Kushies is mine!

is it 20 hours on the line in summer fs? don't mind the radiators in winter as we'd have em on anyways so wouldn't use the tumbler much if I could help it.

RosiePosie · 10/09/2005 14:26

One thing to bare in mind munz - tots go quite crunchy if you line or radiator dry them ( not that it effects the perfomance, they just don't feel as nice ). Tumbling them keeps them nice and soft. If you're going to try tots, I would say go for their new nappies - the bamboozle or the fluffle tot - both softer and quicker drying, but the same shape as the standard tots.

RosiePosie · 10/09/2005 14:28

My worst cloth nappy - anything hemp, no matter how many times I prewash hemp, my dd just wees straight through it. I know it's supposed to be super-absorbant, but it just doesn't work for us.

thanks RP - what are the thoughts thou DH just mentioned about tummbling and them shrinking? even on a low heat?

RosiePosie · 10/09/2005 14:51

No, they don't shrink, they're designed to be tumbled and are very hardwearing ( although they don't have to be tumbled ). Lots of people line dry them until they are slightly damp and then stick them in the tumbler for 10 or 15 minutes at the end to soften them up. They dry pretty quickly in the hot sun, if you put them out in the morning, they should be dry by late afternoon and sunshine is an excellent bleaching agent to get the stains out. Like I said, the new tot's nappies are made from different material and have had good reviews.

starlover · 10/09/2005 14:51

i don't own a tumble drier so my nappies are always dried on a clothes horse. have no radiators either!

that's why i love fuzzi bunz... they dry soooooo quickly

bumbles also are fab... quicker to dry than tots bots.

i have a few tots and they take at least a day to dry just hanging in a room... they are still fluffy though, despite lack of tumble drier.

having said that, i have taken some to my mums in the last few days which have ende dup being tumbled (my washing machine is broken!) and they haven't shrunk at all

Caligula · 10/09/2005 15:01

I hated kooshies. Took months to dry and leaked.

flamesparrow · 10/09/2005 16:45

Sorry - I was going with winter drying... much less time on the line

munz · 10/09/2005 20:59

thanks guys - got DH to agree the fluffle tots bots - yay!!! he didn't like the 'normal' ones thought they looked lie teddy bears bums - I ask u!

fruitful · 10/09/2005 21:21

Loved my fuzzis with dd; don't use them at all with ds cos they leak.

Other than that I've sold / given away all the ones that don't work for us and am left with totsbots and bumhuggers which both seem pretty foolproof.

I've counted up how many size 2 nappies I have (ds is about to grow into them) and sadly I think I have enough. I wanted a fluffle!

popsycal · 10/09/2005 21:27

bloody little lambs aio

popsycal · 10/09/2005 21:27

oh and fuzzis and wonderoo.....
forgt about them

flamesparrow · 10/09/2005 23:06

Hmmm... and the fluffles don't look like Teddy Bear Bums??? What kind of freaky teddies has he had????

chipmonkey · 11/09/2005 02:00

fruitful, ebay some of the ones you have and then buy a fluffle! Munz, I found the bambino mio wraps OK but you couldn't wash them at 60 like the nappies and I like to be able to fling everything in together. If I use Bambino mio nappies I use popolini wraps (which Cooperoo doesn't like, she prefers Motherease!) The one thing I don't like about the nappies themselves is that they get very wet against baby's skin. Some people use fleece liners to prevent this but I have difficulty putting several layers together with a kicking baby, not very dextrous!

OP posts:
RosiePosie · 11/09/2005 07:22

I think the main thing is that what works for one baby doesn't necessarily work for another, and it's probably best to wait until baby is actually here, try out a selection to see what works best for you. There are thriving buy and sell second hand nappy forums on other sites, as well as eBay, which makes this easy and affordable to do. Having said that, I don't know many people who don't get on with Tots - they are pretty universally popular. And the new improved ones seem to have what the original tots are lacking - a fleece liner ( acts as a stay dry barrier for babies skin ) and faster drying.

Cooperoo · 11/09/2005 07:42

I didn't like the tots when I tried them, controversial I know.....

Cooperoo · 11/09/2005 07:51

But like chipmonkey says I am a bit odd with my choices not liking popolino and loving motherease when they are practically the same. Lol

munz · 11/09/2005 09:07

lol, yes RP - I think that's going to be it I did mention to DH about buying one of each just to see! lol - althou would be expensive.
fs - I have no idea on his teddy bears - but he's a yorkshire man so what can u expect! he he he (no offence anyone!)

Enid · 11/09/2005 09:09

lol

I used to avoid my Kooshie and the Motherease one size when I was using washables

flamesparrow · 11/09/2005 10:26

Lol Munz - I blame so much about DH on him being Welsh

Satine · 11/09/2005 10:30

Cotton Bottoms wicked dreadfully when my two got older than 6 months ish. But then I'm shamefully lazy when it comes to changing nappies regularly!

PeachyClair · 11/09/2005 10:37

Kooshies and I tried a Bambino Mio wrap, and if it was representative of all of them and not just a bad egg, then those two.

flowerfairy · 11/09/2005 20:51

Still don't like my dizzy diaper, it just seems to be baggy around different place s no matter where i fasten it. I didn't like cotton bottoms whilst ds was exclusively breast fed but once poo became more solid much easier to use. Though do prefer to use for stuffing now.

fqueenzebra · 11/09/2005 21:02

Nappy Nation "No Fold" (it's like a shaped nappy that folds out for quicker drying, or a terry that naturally folds up to a shaped nappy in theory!! Leaky, fiddly, not that absorbent, didn't dry that quickly worst of all worlds, truly.

starlover · 11/09/2005 21:04

i LOVE nappy nation no fold! i used them on ds when he was littler!
