If your ds has longish hair

Did you just let it grow from birth? Ds is 13months and his hair is getting quite long, but more mullet than anything.

Someone told me their hair gets thicker once it is cut- is that true?

I want him to have longish hair

Hair does seem to thicken up when it is cut. I cut my Ds's hair myself and it did thicken up and now I'm totally envious of the thick hair he has. It's fabulous!

It won't grow faster or thicker if you cut it!
However it will look thicker as it will be tidy not wispy iyswim.
Ds is 18mo and has never had a trim. It's thickening up nicely and his lovely blond curls that were just at the nape of his neck are slowly creeping up the rest of his head! :)

My aunt had thin, flyaway hair as a young child in the 1940's and then had a health thing that meant she had to have her hair shaved off. She then grew the most fabulously thick tresses ever following that, so I don't agree with you soppy.

But it doesn't work like that for us at the hairdresser does it. Hair is dead iyswim. It's the bit in the scalp that is growing. Their hair looks thicker as IRS all the same length. Also hair changes with age - I had blond curls as a toddler. Try telling that to my dark brown won't hold a curl hair!

ds (2y6m) has long-ish hair but it has been trimmed to tidy it up, really. It's quite fine (like mine) but it's certainly thicker than when he was younger.

DS is 1 and had a lot of hair when he was born. We've cut it three or four times already - it probably would have been down to his shoulders by now! (it's thick brown curly hair. Not that I'm jealous. Oh no)

Your curls could come back though soppy; mine did!
I had really curly hair as a 3yo, then the hairdresser cut it and it went into just a wave (Mum was beside herself!), it was like that until I was 26 when a couple of ringlets appeared closely followed by a mass of fabulous curls! after the birth of Ds 12 years ago when I was 34, the curls were lost and my hair became so thin and nothingy it was embarrassing. The curls reappeared 2 years later and after I had Dd at 42/43 they disappeared again! I'm waiting for their return now and am worried they may not! so you never know! :)

Nah my curls are gone!
I'm going grey and after having Ds I had no change in hair texture at all. Just more White ones! :(

Ds1 was born with a shed load of hair.

It's chin length now with loads of lovely curls at the back. (He's 18months now)

I have to get it trimmed every 4 weeks because it just grows exceptionally fast.

IMO I do think getting it cut regularly has made it thicker.
