Anyone else have a DC that started having tantrums at just 12 months?

My DD is 12 months and these last few weeks she has started throwing almighty tantrums. She is my 3rd and I'm sure the other 2 weren't like this so early on.

If I am eating she wants some and if I don't let her she starts screaming and waving her arms around like something possessed! Or if she want to play with something she can't have she does the same.

Just can't beleive she is doing it so young.

Mine did this too. Now 14 mo. She is hilarious! Distraction doesn't work anymore - she's got too good a memory. I've been reading 'The Happiest Toddler on the Block' which, although a bit odd, does have some great ideas for stopping tantrums and seems to be working at the moment! No doubt I've got a few more years to practise.

Yes! Ds2 at about 12months, huge tantrums...hitting head on floor/biting/hitting/wailing etc. He's now nearly 16months and is calming down a bit, I think that now he can ask for quite a bit by pointing and nodding yes/shaking no etc helps, he can also get around by himself more sufficiently Smile

Yes DD has been having tantrums since she was one. No-one believes me when I tell them this.

The bad news is she's still going strong now and she's 3.5 :( She is without doubt one of the most headstrong and stubborn children I've ever met. Sigh.

DD2 is doing that at the moment, it started last month. She is 8 months old. I don't think they are real trantrums (trantra?) IYSWIM. Just baby frustration, if you distract them or pick them up they usually stop (unless hungry or tired or dirty too).

9 months here (after being a dream baby).
Still very much ongoing at 2.8 years
