Gastric reflux and leaving baby to cry?

This is very specific but i am in desperate need of advice as none of my mummy friends have experienced this! My 8 month old has gastric reflux and if she cries for longer than 5 minutes she vomits violently choking on her sick. I have a two year old who i want to start a sleeping through the night programme with (having one of them sleeping through would be nice!) but that would mean leaving baby at night to resettle toddler. I cosleep with baby and if i get up she wakes up and im guessing if i then left the room she would howl. The toddler currently just climbs into bed with me at a point and we all sleep together. I really need to tackle this but am really worried about leaving baby to cry and be sick if i'm not in the room. Whats the safest position to leave her in? Even better is there a way to break the cry and be sick routine? Would be nice to have longer than 3 mins in the shower! Thanks

Have you seen the doctor about the reflux? My DD was on ranitidine and it changed her life. It just stopped the reflux completely and she was a happier and much more settled child.

you could just wait a few months until your baby has grown out of the reflux, and as camdancer sugested see the doc to get some medication. I think you would make life much harder for yourself if you try and tackle the reflux AND changing sleep routines with your other child all at once....give yorself a break the reflux wont last for ever and do you know any teenagers who still climb into bed with their mum in the night!...good luck

Its more the toddler is a very wiggly sleeper and wakes me up! Baby has just started sleeping through the night and the prospect of a good nights sleep is very tempting...
I have been to the doc when baby was little and he said that as i breastfeed there was nothing he could do as the medicines were added to their bottles (I can't express). Guess a couple more months of no sleep isn't much :-)

What a crap GP my DD2 is 6mths and has reflux i BF her and she takes her medicine (gaviscon and omeprazole) mixed with water from a spoon, and has done since she was 5wks. Go to a different GP they should be able to help your little one and ease her symptoms. Xx
