My son is a genius!

Having pooed where he liked for 4 weeks of potty training, he has just done a lovely big poo....where?....in the potty?....no, better than that.......in the loo!

I have to admit he didn't do it by himself but it is still a start. I realised he had gone quiet and went into where he was playing to see him standing still in a corner - a bit of an indication that something was not right - so I asked him if he wanted to do a poo and he said yes. I put him on the loo, thought he might not stay long if he wasn't distracted so went to get a book to read to him, and on my return, lo and behold, the child had performed beautifully!

Hallelujah!

Please feel free to add your congratulations!

Thank you!

I must admit, the thought of having to wait months was severely depressing me. Still, I know I am not out of the woods yet. Just as long as I can take him along to playgroup next week and say honestly "He can poo in the loo." Up until today, I was all set to lie.

Wayhey! Congrats to your little man. You could get him to wave "Bye Bye Poo Poo" if he does it in the loo/potty again....DS loves doing this!!

Lonelymum · 08/09/2005 19:53

Well i was so excited about it, I flushed it away and instantly saw ds3 look a tiny bit disappointed and realised he had probably wanted to do the Dispatching Of The Poo. So, with lightning quick reflexes, I said to him "Did you want to flush the toilet? You can do it next time you poo in the toilet. Brilliant eh?

well done. Ds1 has been using the potty to poo for a few weeks now, and I am still very very proud of every one he does!

magnolia1 · 10/09/2005 15:20

Lol.... Isn't it great how exceited we get about poo!!!

Katie has done 2 poos in the toilet although she asks for it about 10 times before actually doing it so am spending half my day in the loo

funny how ohter popels nappies honk hwn you no longer have them

Lonelymum · 10/09/2005 16:20

Ds3 did a second poo (though in the potty not the loo) today. I don't know that I feel home and dry exactly yet, but well on the way. Is everyone's child still in nappies at night though?

OP posts:
fisil · 11/09/2005 08:36

I'm glad you asked that Lonelymum. Consider the evidence:

This week: every night nappy dry in the morning, one poo
Us: we're skint

So, do I buy a new pack of nappies, or do we just stop now?

Lonelymum · 11/09/2005 09:22

I would risk taking the nappies off at night Fisil, although consider that if you do so and you get another night time poo, you may spend more on cleaning the bedclothes, carpet etc than you would on some cheap nappis!

How about taking off the nappies, using a matress protector and possibly care mats (not pampers but you can buy incontinence pads from a good chemist for much less than kids ones)

fisil · 13/09/2005 08:44

we did it! we did it! We gave him the choice and he opted for no nappy, and he made it through the night dry!

Lonelymum · 13/09/2005 16:17

Congratulations! So that's it for you and nappies is it?
