Wearing Make up rules for Little Girls, if you allow it at all

9yo DD spent most of her birthday money on makeup. I let her wear it right away. But I need to set down some rules about when to wear it, in future.

I don't wear makeup or care for it, so I can't teach her how to wear it subtly and not obviously; she'll need more practice than average to learn how to wear it subtly.

I know some people will be horrified at any make up ever worn by 9yos, so let's take view as legit and understood. However, if you do let your 8-10yo girls wear makeup, what rules do you follow about when and where and what?

TIA.

Ah, that would explain why I look like Asterix.

Lucky here - 9 yr old DD not shown much interest so far

but my rules WOULD be:

not, at all, out of the house
nail polish fine on toes
nail polish on fingers okay at weekends, as long as removed on sunday night before returns to school

we live in the countryside and i think that might be delaying the interest in this sort of thing, to my intense relief. i wear make-up every day, having said that, a bit of eyeliner mainly, and the odd dab of foundation on a bad skin day. but there is plenty of time for all of that ahead for DD!

I have always let dd wear whatever she wanted, make up and clothes, and funnily enough after looking like jodie foster in taxi driver for a month or so when she was about 10, she now lives in jeans and no make-up.
