baby has floppy head in car seat!

my 9 week old baby travels about in a maxi cosi car seat. Because I have an airbag (and Volkswagen will not switch it off for me) I have to put her on the back seat, where I can neither see nor reach her.

When I get her out, her poor little head has lolled right out of the head support (forward and to the right). I sat in the back with her today, while my husband drove the car. She lolls about all over the place when he pulls away from a junction. It looks terrible.

Does anyone else have this problem? How do you sort it? I know the seat is fitted properly, and it feels completely secure, it's just her head!

Doesn't the Maxi Cosi have an adjustable base so you can make the angle less steep and the seat shallower for newborns ? If you look on www.maxi-cosi.com/ under the Union Jack for language and click on the picture of the infant seat , point 3. Or try to angle the seat so she lies flatter (it should still be secure)

I had exactly the same problem with dd. I used to sit in the back when my dh drove and literally hold her head up when she was asleep!! We were using a M&P pilko travel system and I've since been told the car seat was badly designed and caused this. I am expecting a new baby soon and have bought a new travel system so I hope this one's better. It looks horrible having their head flopping around and surely can't do them any good especially if you have to brake in an emergency.

I'm talking forward facing!

they all do it.
the only thing i can recommend for a toddler is to recline the seat as much as poss... or use a seat like the bebe confort iseos which has adjustable side bits to support the head better

thanks for all your messages

yes, the straps are very secure (I'm paranoid about this, spend ages getting the thing as secure as possible). I'll have alook at the maxi cosi website when I have a minute.

I'm tempted to ask "where's the knob to turn the airbag off on the Golf?" but I reckon she's actually safer in the back, so don't tell me!.
