Tell me it's ok to do nothing while baby sleeps

Dd2 is 9 days old & currently asleep on me between feeds. Have dd1 who is 3 & at nursery 2 days.

With dd I didn't feel an ounce of guilt spending the time mnetting & watching trash tv. Now I can't help but feel I should put her down & Do Something Useful.

Have tried to sleep which would be infinately useful but was woken by door & phone then baby and now it's a bit late as I will need to go to bed early as dd not settling between 10/11 & 2.

Should I drag myself away from my lovely baby, iPhone & come dine with me & do some housework?

Oh my god Bumper it is practically the law that you chill out/watch telly/drink tea/MN at this time! If you can't sleep, then relaxing with a gorgeous, heavy-with-sleep baby is useful as you are recharging your batteries.

haha, i'm also holding a sleeping baby and trying to decide whether to put her down and do the washing up Grin

Mine is 14 weeks though, so i've got less of an excuse, with a 9 day old I say put your feet up and do nothing!

OuchPassVodka · 30/09/2010 16:06

Do nothing? you are doing the most important thing - resting. congratulations btw.

i have spend the day in bed feeling guilty about doing nothing. its pointless to feel guilty. this is the time you are supposed to rest, whilst they are immobile and cute and snuggly Envy.

Enjoy the snuggles!!!

If you do the cleaning what will your visitors do when they come round?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 30/09/2010 16:07

No no no no You must set up different make believe scenes around your sleeping baby, everyone knows this is the rules. Grin

KnitterNotTwitter · 30/09/2010 16:10

Bumper - it's THE RULES that you do nothing

(and stick a note on your doorbell saying that you've a newborn baby so visitors should knock!)

Bumperlicious · 30/09/2010 16:12

Lol ferret! I must stay away from craft blogs too as they are guaranteed to make me feel inadequate.

Thanks guys, feel better now. Just need to stop stressing about sleep.

This is most likely last one, & I must admit I am appreciating her lusciousness more than I did with dd Sad. Was just a bit shell shocked first time.

Will have to learn how to use the sling for days when dd1 is home.
