best disposable nappy??

Hi

I am quite new to disposables. This is my second baby but used cloth birth to potty with my eldest and until now (5m) with lard arse baby whose thighs are too fat for the cloth nappies. I am hoping once he is on solids, and mobile he will slim down and get back into them. He is exclusively breastfed (for next 2 weeks anyway), so has runny poo still. I ahve used disposables but only whenever we went away anywhere and I just bought the cheapest/on offer.

So far we have tried on him
purple ones from boots
huggies with eeyore & winnie the pooh
aldi

I don't particularly like any of them, they have all leaked at some point. Including wee. Inclined to think that huggies are maybe better as they are elasticated at the waist?? So poo less likely to go up his back.

I resent every penny spent on poo-catchers so want the cheapest but they have to be effective. I see pampers baby dry are on offer in asda 120 for £12, which is 1p/nappy cheaper than aldi. How much are lidls?

which is best?

hi liz, my twins are in cloth nappies but i use a disposable at night, they get a better sleep rather than having a wet nappy.
I use the asda little angels nappies-absolutely brilliant, so i put it on at 7pm, babies go to bed and i gat them up at 7am, same nappy all night, never had a single leak and my two are very heavy wetters.
Only problem is they are always on offer so very often out of stock in my local store, when i have tried pampers as an alternative they aren't a patch on the asda ones.
Even though they are much cheaper than pampers they are far superior.

Liz79 what BTP were you using? I've got a bruiser of a baby 11lb 1oz at birth with the biggest thighs I have ever seen and we are doing well with cloth. She has been using all of her nappies on the largest rise for quite a few months now and that gets round her legs, she doesn't have a big belly though so with aplix or poppers I can still get a good fit.

For eco piece of mind, and a full night's worth of wee (and the rest...), Bambo and Moltex. Samples available from here www.naturebotts.co.uk/departments/products/nappy_samples/index.htm. I have been using these at night since DS was about 4 months old and full time since he grew out of his cloth nappies (too tall for even the longest on the market) and am very happy with them. Moltex more £££, but Bambo v v v good indeed.

thanks we have tots bots, mostly cotton and some fluffles. also some easy peasy bumbles which are better. And mother ease rikki wraps. He was a big boy too at 9lb 12oz but thats tiny next to yours smacs! i think he must be tall as well as chubby thighed. it just seems there is nothing to come up the rise after its been round the legs!

thanks for your help

i found sainsburys own brand were brilliant.

used them for ds and never had a leak, even when he had a really bad tummy bug and his poo was explosive.

The BG v4s have been designed to fit birth to larger toddlers. I haven't tried one out myself but the poppers on the rise are supposed to be the same as the flip. I've got a couple of flips and these are the only nappies we use not on the largest rise setting.
I got some on the sale board here and I've been using Cloth Nappy Tree as well (which is good if you ignore all the tickers and huns and excessive smilies!)

i found using nappies with nippas helped my chunky legged DD1 all the others were either tight or left gaps i just couldnt win. DD2 has slimmer legs so most her nappies fit ok but she does have one leg a lot larger than the other so sometimes only a nippa will do the trick if she fills out a bit lol
