Mothercare smart nappies

Am hoping to start using these nappies on my 8 month old DTs.
I have been given a lot of the reusable nappy pads and some liners.
Now, could someone explain to me like I'm a five year old how these work.
It doesn't explain on Mothercare website, I've not been into a store to see the full range of products and if I google I get words like 'covers', 'wraps' and 'outers' and I'm really not sure what these are!
TIA

you need some outers- these are waterproof and have a cradle for your pads to sit in.

Thats all I need? Then the pad folds over in the outer and the liner goes in the pad? Do they have to be Mothercare outers do you know? Many thanks.

Have you been given any waterproof outers? They are the 'shell' that the pads fit into.
The pads fold into 3 with the staydry bit on top and liner on that (optional) and sit inside the outer. You can re-use the outer bit if it isn't soiled and just put a fresh pad in. Dry pail the soiled ones in a bucket and wash on 40 or 60. (with half to third of normal amount of powder and never use conditioner) they dry really quick.

No they don't have to be Smart nappy ones, but they need to be a wrap that they would sit in without moving around too much designed for similar pads, such as flip or wee huggers wraps. What size are your pads? as you need to buy the same size wraps to fit with the Mothercare ones. (ps I have 4 large ones if u want them pm me)

Great, thanks mumface. No I haven't got the outers, just liners and pads.

So I need to get some outers, either mothercare, flip or wee huggers - then I'm good to go!

The pads are the small/medium size. (My dts are only 12 and 15 lbs still, at 8 months!, small but perfect Smile), so thanks for the offer but way to big at the moment.

What is dry pail? (sorry, obviously new to this!). And out of interest how come no conditioner?

Dry pail means just stick in a bucket without any water- so no need to soak.
You don't use conditioner on cloth nappies because it coats the fibres making them less absorbent and clogs them up. The only one you can use is Bold 2-in-1 powder as the conditioner is clay based and will wash out. Don't forget to re-close the velcro before washing aswell or else they will all stick together in the machine.

Fab. All my questions answered! I'll give it a go, I just can't stand the thought of 2 more years of nappies (of twins!) going in the bin. I have already learnt the velcro tip with bibs!
Thanks again.

Good luck and out of the wraps I would recommend the Bumgenius Flip, they have been the most reliable and well fitting and they are also birth to potty (they have poppers to adjust the size) so you will only need to buy one set.

Thanks mumface.
