Pyjamas that do up at the back???

I have a 2year old who goes to bed every night and then strips off all her clothes including her nappy! Sometimes she wets the bed and other times she just stands there stark naked until I go up and dress her. We go through this 3 or 4 times every night until she eventually goes to sleep and by this time it's gone 9pm and I'm almost ready for bed myself.

I've tried getting cross, being calm and reasoning with her, and ignoring her completely but nothing's worked.

The only thing I can think of is some sort of sleep suit etc that does up the back so she can't strip off. I'm hoping that if I find something like that I can break the habit and then put her baqck in pyjamas.

Has anyone had the same problem and know of something like that? Please help!!! Smile

I put both my dc in grobags and when they started taking them off I sewed a loop of tape onto the bottom and used a key ring to fasten the zip to the loop.

French pijamas are like those on the verbaudet site, up till 36 months. Petit bateau, laredoute, verbaudet are a good source of them in the UK.

DD1 did that but I don't remember what stopped her in the end, may be she was just bored with it. I would just go didn't say anything, no light on, dressed her back, and put her down.
(at 2 she was in 4 yo clothes so too big for baby pijamas)

Why not just put the pyjama jacket on back to front?

virgomummy · 28/09/2010 12:55

That's what I've been doing mamaloco, sometimes just saying 'bed' supernanny -style but it's just wearing me out!! Apparently I don't do enough for her during the day!
Octaviapink - she doesn't have a jacket just long sleeved cotton pyjama tops and bottoms. The top i can live with, it's the nappy thats the problem, I can't just leave her and let her sleep in a wet bed, surely that's a form of child abuse!!

Just found some codes for discounts at vertbaudet but alongside them there was 4 reviews and all of them said that vertbaudet was a terrible company. Useless customer service/delivery/returns etc. Anyone had good experiences?

just use regular popper babygros and put them on back to front?

m&s, tesco and mothercare all do them up to age 2

Lionstar · 28/09/2010 13:22

I seem to remember as small kids having pajama bottoms that buttoned onto the pajama tops. Could you adapt the ones you have to do that - sew buttons on the waistband of the trousers and create a buttonhole inside the tops? (probably a flap of material with a buttonhole on sewed to the inside seams at the right height?). Or a cheap and cheerful solution of safety-pinning the bottoms on?

negrilbaby · 28/09/2010 13:40

I had exactly the same problem a couple of months ago - and posted here for advice.
What worked for us was a vest over the top of everything - the type that has poppers at the crotch. He never quite managed to get everything off after that - although he had a good try on occasions.
He did finally grow out of it - although has been know to attempt to change his own nappy in the middle of the night more recently!
Pampers bed mats were a life saver too - under the sheet and kept the mattress dry when Houdini managed to escape the clothes.

cellotape around the nappy and don't worry about the pjs!

virgomummy · 28/09/2010 13:56

Loving these suggestions! Ok, tonight think i will first try putting a vest on over/or under under pjs. If she can manage that, i think i'll try the cellotape idea. Those two use stuff I already have in and won't cost anything.

If i need to,tomorrow I'll start looking at buying in buttons or new babygros!

I'll let you know how it goes, thanks for all the great suggestions, was getting a bit desperate! Don't want it to be 9pm before I can sit down every night!! Wish me luck!! Grin
