Internet porn vs newsagent porn

I have started a campaign against having porn on veiw in newagents. I believe there is lots of help and advice on internet safety and parental controls, but whats protecting our children from veiwing or buying sexually explicit magazines and newspapers when they go down to their local shop?
I have had a huge amount of interest, sign my petition at outofsight.yolasite.com
and have your voice heard at Westminster shortly. Join facebook group 'keep explicit material out of sight' and have your say!

Good call, megsfleet. Have never really thought about it, but yes, having porn on sale in newsagents (sweetshops!) is horror, isn't it?!

I think there's a way you can make your http address 'link' from your meaasge - doesn't seem to be doing so at the mo.

Bets of luck

Newsagent porn is ridiculously mild compared to stuff on the Internet.

"It is the prevalence of pornography consumption among children that is most striking. In a study in 2000, 25% of children aged 10-17 had seen unwanted online pornography in the form of pop-ups or spam. By 2005 the figure was 34% ? and 42% of children aged 10-17 had seen pornography, whether wanted or unwanted. In another study in Canada, 90% of boys aged 13 and 14 and 70% of girls the same age had viewed pornography. Most of this porn use had been over the internet. More than one-third of the boys reported viewing pornographic DVDs or videos ?too many times to count?."

I think the greater concern should be peoples Internet.

thing is, apart from using family filters and so on, it is near on impossible to police internet porn, since it transcends geographical and therefore legal boundaries, but it seems much more likely that a campaign, which is what this thread is about, could impact a targeted community directly. Knowing where you can make a difference and all that

I'm not anti-porn by the way - just think it's a bit off having it in sweetshops! And actually, you can get very full on porn in newsagents.
