Has anyone used the Newborn Hire Kit at Little Green Earthlets

Hiya

I am investigating using cloth from birth with my second baby due in November.
I used Motherease One Size on my first son 2 years ago, and will use them again on the new baby when she arrives ( I think its a girl anyway!)
I see Little Green Earthlets (who I bought from before) do a hire kit now of the Newborn nappies. It seems like a really good idea, but I wondered if anyone else can give me any feedback on it if they have tried it out?
Thanks

Sofia

Uh Oh! I have waited for a response to this message I put up a few days ago.
Has no one tried the newborn hire kit?
I just wanted to try something until my old One size nappies fitted perfectly. As they say they are from 8lbs on them and my last baby weighed in at just 6lb14oz at birth. So was hoping the hire kit would do for the first few weeks.
Has anyone any other suggestions.
I am new to posting here, I wonder if I am doing it all wrong.
Sorry
Sofia

Hi Sofia,
just bumping for you - you are doing it right but maybe nobody has used this kit! I know there is a general chat thread for cloth nappy users, you could try to find that and link to this thread there?

Here is the general chat thread for you! :)

Thank you Gingerkirsty. I shall try on the cloth nappy thread! Looks quite daunting in there!

TBH I think most of the regulars on that thread check the nappies section and comment where they can.
So I would deduce that no one else has tried the newborn kit that you describe.
I have big babies who can wear BTP straight away but I did buy some Little lambs size 1 for DD2 but in the end they were hardly used. Some people use muslins to start with as well for littlies but you would need a small or XS wrap over that.
Instead of hiring how about buying just a few size 1s second hand. There is a for sale board here and I've used Cloth Nappy Tree as well for pre-loved nappies.

Thanks so much for that SmacsGonePotty. I appreciate that input! I shall have a think about trying some muslins, I still have some from my first baby anyway.
I just love my one Size so much and loved the idea of a non bulky Mother-ease nappy to start with. Maybe I will risk trying it and let you all know how I get on!

Oh, and just for anyone interested (don't know if I am allowed to say t?) I had an email yesterday from Little Green Earthlets. They have a nice Sale on, and I bought a breast Pump (Lansinoh) as well as toys for Alfie. I think this is the best Sale I have ever seen them have. www.earthlets.co.uk if anyone wants.

I haven't used that kit, but I am using the extra small motherase sandies on my dd at the moment, she was 6lb7oz when born. I have 8 of these which I use during the day, then I use the next size up at night. Mainly so I use the trimmer ones during the day under clothes, and keep the larger sandy for night when it doesn't matter about being a bit bigger. There's not much in the size, just a bit trimmer under trousers! I wash about every day, sometimes a bit longer. These are great small nappies if you can find second hand, mine where in as new condition as not used for long. Would sell you mine but dd will still be in them in november!

Thats great news hophophippidtyhop (love the name by the way).
Thanks for sharing this with me. I have spoken to the suppliers about the Newborn hire kit and they were really useful and helpful. I have decided to go ahead and hire the newborn kit anyway. They have already reserved it for me now. They will send it out before too long and all I have to do is show them a copy of the new baby's birth certificate when I return the kit and I will only get charged from the day the baby is born. I think thats pretty fair don't you?
I can return the kit as soon as I have finished with it or don't want it anymore and then they give me my hire charge back against the next lot of Motherease nappies I buy. Sounds pretty good to me.

I shall let you all know how I get on. Think I might buy some of the cute stuff they have in the sale too! I can't seem to stop shopping at the moment. Seem to be hoarding for the new baby, the winter and just because I can still get out easy enough at the moment! Oh my poor credit card!
