Sorry but I'd have to say she's probably too young to play very much with a DS.

Dora/Diego games are good for that age.

Nintendogs and Cooking Mama very popular here. Dd1 has a DSi and spends ages just playing with the photo software.

Granddaughter is 5 and a bit and loves Animal Crossing.
Also the Nintendogs are great for that age group.

MY 6YO BOY LOVES HIS TOY STORY 3 GAME.

Many thanks, what's Animal Crossing Like, how hard?

Her twin brothers 6(soon to be 7) love Cooking Mama(as do I) so that was on my list, managed to get a copy of Gardening Mama.

Has anybody seen Hamsterz and those life type ones you know teacher etc?

Inthesticks all 3 of my kids were/are avid fluent very early so cope very well with DS consoles. Her brothers had theirs at 6 and it has worked very well.I limit all screen time so they choose a bit of TV/computer or DS if they earn it after school.Personally I prefer the DS to crappy TV and computer websites but it's horses for courses.

She reads for hours and has some lovely toys she plays beautifully with, she gets masses of exercise playing outside so I think she's ready to have a DS.

Don't feel you have to justify your choices MilaMae - I don't Grin

My DD loves animals and since I am so rotten and have said no to all her proposals, she has a whole menagerie of nintendogs/cats/horses etc. She also at that age enjoyed playing some sort of dinosaur game and spongebob. Don't feel you have to justify your DD having a console.

popelloucla · 23/09/2010 07:36

DD1(6) has the imagine teacher game.

She loves it, but some of it goes a bit quick for her. There is a nice mix of different things to do and it has kept her interested.

She doesn't have her own DS yet, but will probably get one for Christmas.

Animal Crossing is very easy to get around. Granddaughter borrowed grandson's game and she got it straight away, and she's just 5.

We get our games pre-owned - Animal Crossing was about £10. Bit pricey new, though.

No reason to justify a child having a DS. It's like all these modern gadgets - you can control how long they are on them. I found it helped my grandson's concentration. And it's great for long bus journeys.

So what happens on the imagine teacher game?

When dd gets her, all 3 will finally have one, planning to keep them hidden in my bag to produce at key moments on long car journeys etc. Can't wait!!!!

Animal crossing does involved a lot of reading though.

Tinkerbell I think there are now 3 of them I think my DD enjoyed the first one better it is a couple of years old now so you might be able to pick it up quite cheaply.
