Dry Pail....

At the moment I wet pail DS nappies but have seen on here some people mentioning that they dry pail....

thought I'd give it a go but just wanted to check that there wasn't a secret hidden trick to it... At the moment I fill bucket with water, add some lavender oil, put in the net thingie, add nappies, take nappies out of bucket and into washing machine.... To dry pail do I just do the above but without the 'fill with water step'

Thought I'd check before I made an ebrarassingly stupid error and made my house stink of baby poo....!

I dry pail and the pong when the lid comes off the bucket would fell an ox! Grin

I dry pail (or dry-bag wehen I use an XL wet bag instead of bucket!) and yes, exactly the same just without the water. I use tea tree oil and wash every day/every other day and the smell isn't too bad. Make sure you've got a tight fitting lid and it should be fine.

I dry pail and i add tea tree oil, if DD isnt well and nappies are particularly whiffy i add a few drops to a panty liner and stick it to the inside of the lid, smells nicer :)

Ariela · 22/09/2010 22:03

I used to rinse out a night nappy and anything spectacularly whiffy before adding it to the bucket.

OMG - it took about 10 minutes to explain the dry pail method to DH...aggg. Think he's got it now.

Quite excited by this actually - the big advantage for us is going to be that as we use Fuzzi Bunz we were separating the innards from the outer, putting the innards in the nappy bucket and the outer in DS's laundry basket. Now they just have to be separated and all put in the same bucket.

I dry pail. I rinse pooey nappies in the loo before putting them in the bucket though. Lavender oil on a bit of cotton wool on top. Wash every two/ three days and not particularly whiffy I don't think.

Is it better to wet pail BFed baby pooey nappies or can you still dry pail these too?

MrsBadger · 23/09/2010 17:41

you can dry pail them fine, joymaker

blake11 · 23/09/2010 17:59

If Fuzzi Bunz are similar to Bumgenius, which I think they are, then no need to pull out the insert, they separate by themselves in the machine! I didn't entirely believe this til I tried it. Saves having to touch a soggy insert!

mrsgordonfreeman · 23/09/2010 18:02

Some bicarb in the bottom seems to help with the pong too.

Of the bucket.

KnitterNotTwitter · 24/09/2010 11:44

mrsgordonfreeman :)

Blake11 My Fuzzi Bunz only seem to separate about 50% of the time for some reason...

Aw, that's a shame! I dry pail too by the way, I'd second the need for a well fitting lid!

Thanks MrsBadger Smile
